Re: Your favorite of the Ros-/Rose- names?
in reply to a message by Flora
I find Rose too bland and Rosa too botanical. Rosina is over-ornate and Rosalie is sentimental.Rosamond would be my first choice; I prefer this spelling, but Rosamund could work. Not Rosemund - just inauthentic.Second choice: good old vanilla Rosemary. It really is beautiful, if overused. That leaves Rosalind. My personal association with a Rosalind person is not encouraging, but the name itself is fine. Just, I'd never use it.Rosamond needs a stripped-down mn: Clare, Anne, Susan, Alice. Or a medieval one: Eleanor, Cecily.Rosemary can take more decorative additions: Gillian, Juliet, Philippa, Alice, Helen as well as Jane, Joy, Niamh, Tessa etc.
