I know one of a South African Scottish sibset: Morag, Isobel, David and Eleanor. The parents, father a Baptist minister, wanted Eleanor to be Helen but decided they couldn't trust their existing children, who would have shortened it to Hel without a second thought.

My biology teacher at school was a Scottish recent graduate called Morag - I much prefer Moira which I think is really pretty and unjustly neglected.

Oooh Morag is great. So much character and a really lovely name to boot.

I love seeing/meeting people with names that I've always admired but never encountered.

How funny! I met a Morag just yesterday, though this one was perhaps a decade or so older. I complimented her on her name.
