Paul: Love it. I think it's a great name, and I would seriously consider it if I had a son.
Gavin: Never liked it. Sounds whiny and nasally. Can't take it seriously on an adult.
Brian: I have no strong feelings for it one way or another. It's just THERE. It doesn't offend me.
Adrian: I love it. I would use it for a boy OR a girl. I think it's underused.
Ethan: Nice. I really like it, partly because of "Ethan Frome". Does anyone else like that book?
Liam: It's not something I would use, but I don't have a problem with it. I think it's fine, and I don't think it needs William.Olive: Spunky, cute, disheveled in that charming way. Wouldn't use it for my own kid, but I like it on other peoples' kids.
Laura: Bland. Kind of bitchy. I prefer Lauren.
Alice: Meh. It's nice, but it doesn't have enough personality for me. It's an Everywoman name.
Lisa: I like it; it's soft and feminine without being too frilly.
Amber: I like this one on paper, but a lot of Ambers I've met in real life have been kind of gross, so I tend to shy away from it. I like the sound of it, though.
Tabitha: Witchy, sparkly, usable without being too out-there. It's okay.
Blythe: Boring. Weak. Better as a middle name.Aubrey: I like it on a girl.
Robin/Robyn: I have no problem with it.

I like Adrian and Laura and Alice to a lesser degree. With the rest of them, I pretty much agree with you.

I like Paul, Olive, Alice and Tabitha, and Brian, Aubrey, Robin and Blythe are ok. I don't like the rest, especially Adrian.

Paul -- Agree. I dislike Paul a lot, also.
Gavin -- Eh. I don't really dislike it, but it does stray into "ruggedly masculine" territory a bit, which is a territory I hate.
Brian -- I don't dislike it. Just bored with it because it was so popular. I can see why it was popular.
Adrian -- Disagree, I really like this name.
Ethan -- I like it. Just too popular.
Liam -- Neither really like nor really dislike.Olive -- Totally agree. I think it's hideous.
Laura -- I agree, but I dislike this name because of a personal association, not the name itself.
Alice -- I'm neutral about it. I don't dislike it.
Lisa -- Also neutral. Boring because it was popular in my generation.
Amber -- I love this name, love it, love it, but popularity so ruined it.
Tabitha -- Disagree, I love this name. So charming.
Blythe -- Yeah, agree. It's ugly.Aubrey -- Totally agree, the first syllable makes me physically nauseated.
Robin/Robyn -- Agree, it's so ugly and not feminine.:0)

I happen to like all of these names. None are really my favorite, but I can find something positive in each. Paul - of the "classic" or "traditional" names, this have been one of my top. I like how it is simple yet complete and has a softer soudn while still being pretty masculine. But, this may be based on the fact that Paulina is one of my very favorite names. Gavin - A soft boys name with a v, what is not to like? If this hadn't be re-surged in the 90s, I would give it a chance. It's a bit ho-hum boring to me, but only because I know so many IRL. Brian - prefer Ryan, but Brian is my cousins name, so I am fond of it. However, I can see how it would be the lamest of the bunch. Adrian - Oh come now! Adrian is so cool! It's like Julius, Vivian and Whitney... totally a sophistocated girly man-name. I just think that people (I have known) with these names end up classy ppl. Ethan - This was my favorite name when I was 10years old. I LOVED the "th" sound in anything. Today, I would prefer something like Edan or Ash to Ethan... but I still think that it is a strong name. Liam - Ok, yeah.. I am not really a fan of this. It seems incomplete for me... and a lot of people use it as a "new" nickname for William... which brings the strength of William down to me. Olive - It cutesy yes... but I like it better than Olivia. I think that it is one of teh more decent food names, which is something. I happen to adore noun-names... so I am not the one to critque them if you want popular opinion.

Paul - I have no problem with it but it holds no appeal for me.
Gavin - have always disliked it. Why does it remind me of someone digging and breaking rocks? I dunno.
Brian - I like it alright. Friendly. Just overused.
Adrian - a favorite of mine. Seems expansive but not hyper.
Ethan - meh. Stuckup but decent.
Liam - don't really like. At least on someone from where I live it seems sorta flip, glib, even mincing.Olive - I would like it much more if I liked actual olives. I try to keep the tree in mind. It's an okay name. I'm too cool for Olivia
Laura - It's so much like Paul. Pauls and Lauras I've known have always made good impressions but the names don't make a big impression at all. Laura's okay.
Lisa - I hate Lisa. Let's all hate Lisa together!
Amber - I don't think it's that bad, but I've never been a fan of it. It's a tad annoying I guess.
Tabitha - haha. I can see why you would not like this.
Blythe - I like it, but not so much as a first name (unless it's for a pet)Aubrey - I dislike this, too.
Robin/Robyn - I like Robin for a guy. Robyn and Robin on women is sort of like Amber. I mean, they're annoying in a very similar way. Plus they seem mannish. I don't like them.

second your dislike for Liam, Olive, Tabitha, and Blythe, nor am I particularly fond of Amber although I wouldn't go so far as to say I dislike it.The rest of the names I like or am indifferent to. Alice is one of my favorite names. Paul- good strong name, masculine but not boorish
Gavin- handsome and not overly used. I love that it is a form of Gawain, knight of King Arthur. Gawain was one of the most virtuous and likable knights especially known for the 5 courtly virtues.
Brian- nice and with an interesting history. Reminds me of Brian Boru.
Adrian- a little weak but not bad.
Ethan- nice but overly popular right now.
Liam- dislike, sounds unpleasant Olive- children are not food, and if it were me, I wouldn't want to be constantly affiliated with small, round fruit used as a relish or snack.
Laura- nice
Alice- Beautiful, nice meaning and not too unusual or too common
Lisa- okay but I associated this name with people in their 50s.
Amber- not a huge fan of gem names.
Tabitha- makes me think of a Tabbby cat and little old ladies with far too many cats.
Blythe- light, bright, and gay (in the original sense of the word). It doesn't seem like a name to be taken seriously.Aubrey- okay
Robin/ Robyn- Love Robin on a boy. It's okay on a girl.

I think most of your guy names are classic, that were never the most popular, but are familiar. I personal like Brian and Adrian. The girls... I agree with you on several. Tired of Amber, Laura, Lisa. However, I love Blythe, just doesn't fit with our last name. Olive is cute. Alice is classic.

I like Adrian and Paul enough to use as fns, and Brian and Gavin enough to use as mns. I find Ethan unpleasing - eeth is not attractive - and Liam outrages my love for William. William deserves much, much better than Liam.I would use Alice and Laura as fns without a second's hesitation. I would consider Blythe as a mn only, and Talitha rather than the uberfeline Tabitha as fn or mn. I far prefer Olivia to Olive (my aunt was an Olivia who called herself Olive - never made sense to me), and Lisa and Amber are flimsy and unlovable.I suppose Aubrey and Robin/Robyn count as unisex? I like Robin very much for a boy and hardly at all for a girl; the -y- in Robyn counts heavily against it. Aubrey is not unusual where I live as a male name, and I quite enjoy it though I wouldn't use it myself. On a girl, it's not my taste at all, and much too close to the drab and shabby Audrey.

Paul: Very nice, simple but not weak. I have an uncle named Paul too.
Gavin: It's okay but the gav sound is kind of off-putting.
Brian: It's fine. Waaaay better than Ryan.
Adrian: Whiny, artsy, annoying.
Ethan: Just sounds weak.
Liam: Weak but also smug and snooty.Olive: Hate it except in my salad. It screams "too hip to use Olivia!"
Laura: Very nice, never really out of fashion.
Alice: Sounds so glum and uptight, but also holds a loud, annoying, trashy image.
Lisa: Very nice.
Amber: Beautiful.
Tabitha: It's okay but only just okay. Very cat-oriented.
Blythe: Ugly sound, ugly look.Aubrey: Ugly sound.
Robin/Robyn: Prissy on a boy, but very cute and lively on a girl.
