Re: Some more names I've been thinking about...
Daisy: I'm a fan of flower names so I tend to like this one. It does seem a little weak but the right girl could pull it off, I think. I've been hearing it more and more on television but I'm not sure what that signifies, if anything.Brynn: There aren't many B names I like. I think Brynn sounds snooty. A girl who wears too much lip gloss and suffers from the compulsion of hair flipping and angsty sighing. Harper: Ugh. I like this for the literary connection but I know so many Harpers who are under one. Or around there. I don't know how old they are. They're recent kids from old classmates anyway. I think one was a boy but the rest are girls. Hearing it all the time (and the accompanied "Oh, how cute and rare!!" from everyone) is making me dislike it more and more.Dominique: Like it! I love Dominic for a boy, too. Dominique is a little long but it doesn't necessarily need a nickname. It's fabulous.Clea: I think immediately of the actress Clea DuVall. I don't like it. It sounds incomplete, it's only one letter away from clear, and it's too similar to Claire, a name I think is repugnant. Adriana: Love this!! My sister knew one in high school who was insane in a sometimes-fun-sometimes-life-threatening sort of way. I try hard to keep the association distant because I think the name is beautiful. It has spunk despite sounding flowery.Merrick: A Watcher.Ambrose: I like it! More for an adult character than a real life child.Elijah: It's okay. Prefer Eli by itself.Leander: It's fun to say and it reminds me of meander. Meandering is a favorite sport of mine so I'm tempted to like it. Still, the name lacks pizazz. Alec: Alex with boat shoes and a sweater tied around his shoulders. Maybe with some aviators and a pristine leather jacket for when he feels like being a cinematic bad boy.Leonidas: Lots of fun. Maybe too big for a real person now. But maybe not... The boy would need to be able to carry it. I love Leo either way.
