Two sightings
On the news tonight there was a story (I don't know if story is the right English word here...) about children in Milton Keynes, England, learning computer programming. One of the girls being interviewed was called Dipsy, like one of the Teletubbies. She looked South Asian, Indian perhaps.
(I've actually seen Dipsy for a girl earlier, in a children's magazine, where it was the name of a girl from Dominica in the West Indies.)
The teacher of the class was a woman called Sway. I've never seen this used as a name before.
WDYT? And do you know anything about the names?Does the sea exist
Because of our longing?

Dipsy sounds like a nn. Maybe for Diana or an East Asian name with a Dip sound in it or something? Sway sounds like a nickname too, but a little less so. I think it's just an alternative, hippy sort of name.

I went to grade school with a Milton, he was adorable, and so therefore, I always imagine Miltons in this way. It isn't a common name.Dipsy isn't a name I've heard of. My guess is it would be a nickname.

Um, I wrote that they lived in Milton Keynes, not that I wanted your opinion about the name Milton. The other name I mentioned, beside Dipsy, was Sway.
