Zeke (Ezekiel)
Though it is probably just another one of my flash-in-the-pan obsessions, Zeke is really resonating with me today. I have liked Ezekiel on occasion, but it's paying me a major visit today.I also like it as a middle name for Jasper.Thoughts and impressions? I know many of you will say "awkward redneck name" like most of the other names I enjoy recycling and love (à la Jethro, Abner, Enoch, Rufus, Amos, Wilbur, and Leroy). It's okay if that is what you think, but I like going against that grain; I find the names irresistibly charming and bold. Honestly, not every man needs to be named James or William.

I must be an honorary "red neck", because you just listed both of my boy's names as faves of yours and the only names that you mentioned that I don't go for are Wilbur and Leroy! Abner, Enoch, Rufus and Amos are all great imo, particularly Rufus, I love it! Jasper Ezekiel is fabulous, really like it a lot.

I love Ezekiel. Not so sure about Zeke though. It kind of ruins the name for me.

I'm not American, so I guess that could be why, but I really don't see Ezekiel as a redneck name. Maybe Zeke, but not really...
I like both Ezekiel and Zeke alright. I guess Zeke is a good dog name as well. Ezekiel nn Zeke would be a different story, though. But to be honest, I don't like how Jasper Ezekiel sound. The combo is a bit awkward.

I'm just not a fan of the sound. I don't really like Zane either. Ezekiel is better but I feel like Zeke is unavoidable with Ezekiel. It makes me think of a) farmhands (wizard of oz) and b) football jocks (because I went to high school with one). I could come around to it maybe. It does have a sort of strong but antiquated sound... It seems like a name I SHOULD like, it's just too... prickly

I adore Zeke. Ezekiel is meh, but I'd still use it if I could get a Zeke out of it. I guess it is sort of redneck, but...oh well.

I have a 6-year-old little cousin named Ezekiel "Zeke." His siblings include Eve "Evie," John, Jesse, Reuben and Alma. The only reason I can stomach the name is because my little cousin Zekey is so adorable. Otherwise I find it kind of harsh on the ear and yes, it does bring to mind an evangelical redneck pastor in Appalachia.
