My Bottom 10 names
These are the names I hate the most and find little to no redeeming quality:1. Jayden - Garbage in one of it's purist forms. I could respect some naming their child the Biblical "Jadon", but this invented trash is unforgivable in my eyes. 2. Kayla/Kaylee/Kaylin - made-up, frilly, meaningless, unforgivably infantile dumpster sludge3. Nevaeh - I don't think I need to explain this one4. Genesis - Horrible, what wrong with good-old Jennifer?5. Skylar - *fart noises*6. Kyler - *louder fart noises*7. Lyric - I apologize for my "retarded parents" comment but I really see no redeeming quality.8. Morgan for females - I like it on boys, but for girls it just sounds ugly as hell to me, but atleast it's not Madison (I'll explain why that's not here below)9. Sadie - Stupid, too close to "sadist" and it's a nickname. What so bad about "Sarah"?10. Julian - I know few with agree with me here, but I abhor this name. While I will admit it's nowhere near as bad a Jayden, but this name always sounded posh, limp, pompous, ugly, effeminate, pretentious and overrated to me. Then there's the far, far superior Julius, which make Julian look even crappier than it already is.Madison, Addison, Mckenzie etc., are not here because they already receive enough well- deserved hate in my view. I also don't mind the sound of them, it's the "son of-" meanings that turn me off. I know Nevaeh receives a lot of hate too, but it's just so impressively awful it always needs more. What do you think? Agree? Disagree?

There are several here that I do not like, either. Where I disagree is:Genesis: It's biblical, and if that is your think, I totally get why you'd like it. It isn't even related to Jennifer. I grew up with a boy named Genesis, and went to college with a female named Genesis. So it was interesting, but not unfamiliar to me.Lyric: It's artistic. I wouldn't chose it, but there is nothing wrong with it.Sadie: I like it it, it is a bit spunkier than the softer Sarah. Nothing wrong with Sarah... but that's like asking what's so wrong with Richard, why do you have to have Rich or Dick? You don't... it's just nice to have options.Julian: I like it. I actually find it more familiar, so less pompous than Julius.Morgan: Well, I like Morgana or Morgaine better for females, but I've known both sexes to have it, and it doesn't really bother me.

While most of these names aren't to my taste, I am not quite as strongly opposed to them as you appear to be. Also please be aware that these are people's names, so have a little respect for the bearer of the name even if you don't care for their parents' taste. 1. Jayden- It had a hot flash of popularity and then became rather dated, and the 'y' does seem superfluous. The Jay part always reminds me of Blue Jays.
2. Kayla/Kaylee/Kaylin- Kayla is the Yiddish form of a Hebrew name meaning "crown of laurel." Laurels are the symbol of victory. Caileigh is the Anglicized form of the Gaelic word ceilidh, a traditional social gathering and dance. Kaylee is the combination of the names Kay and Lee, which really isn't any worse than names like Marianne. I wouldn't use these names myself, but they are not totally indefensible.
3. Nevaeh- tries a little too hard, but I'm not utterly dead set against all creative efforts.
4. Genesis- The first book of the Bible and is also a part of the Torah. Genesis's meaning refers to beginnings. It starts with creation and Adam and Eve. It is a richly historical and religious name that has nothing to do with Jennifer. Admittedly, I prefer it as a word and title rather than using it as a name, but it is still fine.
5. Skylar- reminds me of a villain in a book. I prefer it for girls over boys.
6. Kyler- never heard of it before. It does sound like a mispronunciation of Kyle or Tyler.
7. Lyric- dislike, but the parents could have perfectly normal intelligence.
8. Morgan- Lovely for either a boy or a girl. For girls it reminds me of Morgan Le Fey, who was not bad in earlier renditions of the story and always interesting.
9. Sadie- more of a pet name or nick name. It's not any worse than Sally.
10. Julian- Nice, handsome boys name

I agree with most of them, although I don't think Morgan for a girl is terrible. I've never liked Julian, for the same reasons you mentioned.

My twelve-year-old niece's name is Kaylin, heehee.I agree for the most part, except about Nevaeh, which I don't find to be the abomination that some people do, and Genesis, which I actually like more than Jennifer. I also don't mind Lyric. I'm glad to see that someone agrees with me about Julian, which I also find limp, effeminate, and overrated.

Wow - "unforgivably infantile dumpster sludge" takes magnificent invective to new heights. I respect you, sir!I also agree with you on most points. Sadie isn't good, in my view, but there are several worse - Maisie springs to mind. And I've always enjoyed Julian for its historical resonance, though I sure as eggs wouldn't use it for a child. But nor would I use Julius or Julia or Julianne or Julie. Juliet sneaks in as a mn for some reason - probably Shakespearean.

I agree with you on most of these.
Jayden: I like it but I do agree that it's overly trendy and will not grow with a child. Kayla, Kaylee, Kaylin: Far to trendy. Kaylee and Kaylin shouldn't even be considered as names while Kayla isn't as trendy, it sounds even more terrible. Nevaeh: Hate it. Genesis: Also hate it. Skylar: I don't love it but I don't hate it either. Kyler: Hate it. I don't know how two not trendy, perfectly fine names combined together make this overly trendy trash name? Lyric: I didn't even know this was a name but know I hate it. Morgan: I know a girl named Morgan and surprisingly it can suit the odd girl. I don't think many boys suit this name either. Morgan as a name is not bad but there are other names I'd rather use. Sadie: I don't see anything wrong with it, but I don't like it as a name or nickname. Julian: Once again, I see no problem with it however it's not a name I like.

1. Jayden - Garbage in one of it's purist forms. I could respect some naming their child the Biblical "Jadon", but this invented trash is unforgivable in my eyes.-Jayden, it's alright, it's a name, it's not garbage, It's not like it's spelled Jaieaydunnex, although that would be alright with me too because I don't hate names, esp invented names.I am fascinated with letter combinations, new or old2. Kayla/Kaylee/Kaylin - made-up, frilly, meaningless, unforgivably infantile dumpster sludge-Kayla is a form of Catherine I think. All names and words are made up dearie.
as for frilly, what's wrong with that,
Meaningless? make your own meaning or maybe you are a little ignorant to find one.
Unforgivable, what has the name done wrong to not be forgiven? Infantile? eventually people with the name will grow old, so not sure what you are saying.
Dumpster sludge is a bit harsh. How many names can fit in a dumpster anyway?
3. Nevaeh - I don't think I need to explain this one
-Hmm backwards names upset you, me thinks you take it too serious, unless this is what you name your kids...4. Genesis - Horrible, what wrong with good-old Jennifer?
I prefer Genesis or Jenna over Jennifer, but Jennifer is not bad, Horrible, again negative words. There is a song called Genesis that I like and thus by association I like it.plus if you like t he bible, Genesis is a very biblical name.no different name than any other word name5. Skylar - *fart noises*
Um excuse me, or you maybe.
Skyler is alright6. Kyler - *louder fart noises*

I pretty much agree. I do hate Jayden and Nevaeh, straight up. The rest I don't really care for with the exception of Julian. I actually like that one quite a bit.ETA that while most of these aren't my style, as long as they're spelled correctly, that goes a long way with me. And I'd much, much rather see a Lyric or a Kayla than a word name that is kr8ivlee spelled such as Cynsere, Truleigh or Mavrik.

I like Lyric, but I would never seriously name my kid that.

I like Lyric. I always thought it seemed totally silly, but then I encountered one in real life and was surprised to like it a lot. It's a beautiful adjective.

I think Lyrical would be a pretty elaboration on Lyric (which seems a bit abrupt to me). I'm not sure if that would make it more or less namey, though. I just like the sound.
vote up1
Ooh yes, that does sound pretty for a name. I think it might take it a bit over the wordy edge if I try to think of it on a real person, though. Also might end up sounding overly descriptive. Lyrical Lastname.

Ooohhhh yeeeah...Lyrical Something...didn't even think of that.

There's really no reason to us the language you're using on this forum, thanks.
This list is pretty boring, sorry. Like, oh, you hate Nevaeh, that's original. Jayden has an attractive sound.
Kayla has a legitimate Hebrew meaning.
Oh, you hate Nevaeh, that's original.
Oh yeah, let's use wildly overused Jennifer. Just because they have a similar nickname possibility doesn't make them comparable.
I love Skylar, especially for a boy.
Kyler is trendy but far from the worst thing ever.
I hope one of the people on this forum who loves Lyric destroys you for that extremely rude comment.
@@
Because people still regularly use "Sadie" as a nickname for Sarah in 2014.
I like Julian, but thanks for not just picking something super popular to mindlessly hate on.

agreeWow, call the newspapers; somebody on BTN hates Nevaeh and Jayden. *yawn*I really hate Sadie myself. I hate Sarah too but at least I can picture a young Sarah, and a Sarah who isn't a chocolate Labrador puppy.Genesis compared with Jennifer? Like comparing apples and oranges. Jennifer's tired and defaultish, but at least it doesn't call to mind songs like Sussudio.I happen to really like the name Kayla, though I do think Kaylee is weak and whiny.

I always love your responses :)

Looking back, I take back my comments on Lyric, they where harsh and malicious.

Maybe I'm being a little over-sensitive, but I'm not really appreciating the use of "retarded" here. Or the swearing. And I swear like a sailor most days. I don't see a problem with Skylar and Morgan, particularly as the latter was used in Arthurian romance, though I do prefer Schuyler and Morgane. Julian is lovely, too.
Quotewhat wrong with good-old Jennifer?
QuoteWhat so bad about "Sarah"?
Maybe that they're mind-numbingly dull and overused? But, hey, who knows?

My hatred for Skylar and Morgan are subjective, If you like them, that's fine.

Uh-huh... I realise that. You shared the names and your opinions for us to share our opinions, yes?
