Hi there!
Welcome to the board, Autumn. I like your name. I'm surprised it gets mixed up that much. Although I could see that if I just heard of an Autumn and then thought about it again a few years later, I might misremember it as April since they are both about times of the year.

Not meaning to be harsh, but the problem isn't your name. It's the fact you're forgetting to put your name on your paper and making the teacher guess whose paper it is. Not all teachers can remember a student's handwriting. You're lucky you're still young-- once you get to high school, or even college, you will get 0's for those assignments you forget to put your name on. Like other users suggested, your problem would be solved immediately by remembering to put your name on your paper first thing.

I don't really understand what you're saying.Your name is Autumn but sometimes you forget your name and write Alison, Hannah or April instead?Autumn isn't that strange or hard to spell, I find it odd that teachers would get it confused with Hannah. Teachers are used to seeing all kinds of names...

Autumn is a pretty common name around here. I think people are only messing up your name because they forgot what it was or because they are guessing whose paper they are holding (you should probably start writing your name at the top over every paper before you even begin). Autumn is a nice name - no worries, people will get to know you.
Besides... it's better than being known as "one of those Gioia girls", like I was.

Except when it is"Middle School" can vary a lot from district to district. 5th is considered to be a middle grade. Most school districts include it in elementary, but it's not unheard of to include it in middle school.

Yep... Middle school here starts at 5th grade. Elementary is kindergarten to 4th.
Middle is 5th to 8th.
High School is 9th to 12th. Upstate Western NY

I think it can vary within school districts too. My family moved one town away when I was 12 and in the 7th grade. Well, we moved within the same town, but from the Borough to the Township, this is a New Jersey thing, but the Borough and the Township did have separate school systems back then. In the Borough, middle school started at 6th grade, but in the Township, it started at 7th grade, and 6th grade was still in the elementary school. It didn't affect me, as I was already in 7th grade, but the move did cause my sisters to stay in elementary school one year longer than they would have if we hadn't moved.

Yes, usually it's sixth or seventh grade that starts middle school/junior high. In this town now, there used to be an "intermediate school" just for fourth and fifth graders, but that was before I moved here as a teenager. It has been an elementary, K-5, for several years now.

In my town the 5th grade is part of the middle school. In some schools it is 5th-8th, most are 6th-8th, when I was in middle school it was 7th and 8th.

I'm surprised that your name gets messed up so much because it's a popular name and so people should be used to it. My two older grandsons have an eight-year-old cousin on their father's side named Autumn, and I have a co-worker who has a toddler daughter named Autumn.
