Re: Wyatt

Like WHY-it, or WHY-ut.Back in, I think, the 1950s there was a Wild West series on TV about a sheriff named Wyatt Earp. (I think he was a sheriff, but I haven't checked.) Anyway, a relative of mine, long dead, was famous in the family for rushing home, skidding through the front door, hurling coat and hat onto their hooks and collapsing into her chair just as the theme music started. A very addicted lady. She had a son, and luckily for him she named him Rodney. I agree, it doesn't look or sound particularly pleasing to me either. But it's just another surname promoted to given-name status; I'm sure the cowboy is long forgotten.
