HelpFrancisco- increasingly unpopular name?
Is it me or is Francisco becoming a less and less popular name within Spanish society? This is just a guess from a football fan, but I've seen players named Francisco go by Isco, Paco, Juanfran, etc.: not by their given name Francisco though. Am I reaching or are people distancing themselves from it for some reason? Does it have something to do with Francisco Franco maybe?

No idea, but this is a nickname rich culture so my guess is that they are distancing themselved from the name itself... but rather want to be distinctive in a sea of Franciscos. Francisco is a lovely name btw.
