Re: What is the weirdest name you have heard?
in reply to a message by KJ
I had a classmate in high school named Breege. She'd be my age now, mid-fifties, but she was a baby once. I always thought it was the weirdest name on a person I've ever heard. Someone told me it's a nickname for Bridget, but her name was not Bridget.

That is unique. The spelling is rather unappealing, and the sound is meh. I love Bridget though... I suppose Breege is a logical nickname... though Bridge is more sensical. In a related note - I know a girl named Brighty. She always told me that her parents loved the Irish Bridie... but wanted a spelling that Americans could pronounce (met her in Ireland, strangely). Years later, I find out that her real name is Bridget, but she just prefers Brighty.
