Maggie, Not Margaret
If you loved the name Maggie but hated Margaret, what would you use instead? You could even throw in a middle name, if you want. Thanks in advance. :) "An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way." -Charles Bukowski

I'd either use just Maggie, I consider it at least as substantial as Molly which is quite popular and respected as a stand alone name.So I'd Maggie Viola. But, Magdalene Viola would be my second choice.

The only names I can think of are Magnolia and Magdalena / Magdalene.

I'd use Magdalena :)
Maybe Magdalena Penrose or Magdalena Claire ?

Well, the Maggie I knew in school was just plain Maggie, so you could always do that. There was also a Margaret who went by Maggie.
I guess you could use Marguerite or Margarita, but in my own opinion those names are too pretty to knock down to the drab Maggie.
There's Magnolia or Magdalena, which make Maggie seem bearable.

If I loved Maggie but hated Margaret, I would name my child Maggie. However, if my heart was set on a longer first name, I suppose I might consider Megali, Magdalena, Magnolia... maybe Megan or Marigold as a stretch. Magnolia would be my personal choice from those. I actually like Margaret, but not Maggie. I have been playing with the idea of a Margaret and calling her Gret or Greta.

I'd just use Maggie. I also like Magnolia and the idea of an M- first name combined with an Ag- middle.

Magnolia "Maggie" would definitely be the way I would go.

Magdalena! I think it is a lovely name, honestly, and Maggie seems like a natural nickname for it.Perhaps Marguerite, as well?

Hmmm...guessing your must not care for variations like Margot, Margeaux, Madge, etc. Magdalene comes to mind, but you'd have thought of that too, I think.Personally, I'd go with Marigold, but that one doesn't work for most folks. How about Magnolia?Otherwise, you could go with something like Mary Agatha and form "Maggie" from combining the two.Hope that helps. :)Another idea: Dagmar/Dagmara, Morrigan, Morgana, Morgaine, Michaelangela - all names which have your desired "Mag" sounds, more or less, just not in "Mag" order. Personally, I think if the sounds are there, a little switcheroo for a nickname is no big deal.

Definitely Margot, Margo or Margaux. I like them much better than Margaret. Or Margareta - but then I would probably use Greta as a nn.
