I really like Diane, but I'm one who's sick unto death of -a endings. Give me a Diane over a Diana any day. It's definitely dated, but I don't have a hard time moving past that. For me, it's almost dated in a "good" way. It's starting to feel a little bit retro, and I can appreciate its sleek, strong, sophisticated Frenchness. I think it's far more dated as a middle name than it would be as a first name. I feel the same way about Louise, Anne, and Marie.
