It's okay as a middle name, goes well with a lot of different first names, but I don't like it for a first name. Always seemed too school-secretaryish to me.
There was one Diane that I knew of in school. She was the younger sister of a girl in my class. I guess she's about four years younger than me so that would make her about thirty now.
And yes, I do much prefer Diana. What a difference a letter and a sound make.I think, therefore I judge.
