I have a new colleague called...
ZEEL!
Pronounced like "seal". She told me she has chosen the name herself, based on the word "seal" (as in the animal).
I can't say I think it's beautiful, but I have to admit it's rather cool.
(According to statistic, she's the only Zeel in Sweden.)
Does the sea exist
Because of our longing?

It's an unusual name. I like it's sound. I'd never think "seal" though. I'd automatically think "zeal" which brings to mind fundamentalist Christians renaming themselves or naming a child after their zeal for the Lord.
Z is only found in borrowed words in Swedish and since we don't have the "z" sound, it's pronounced like S.
Yeah, I figured that with the provided pronunciation. It was just the impression I got as an English speaker.
I'd think of 'zeal' before 'seal'. It sounds like the middle of Cecilia.
I agree with you. It's not beautiful, but it's "cool".
The first that comes to mind isn't seal the animal, but rather seal the artist.
