Formal name for Mica (f)
My new Christmas doll told me her name is Mica (MYE-kuh), but I would like it to be short for something. I thought possibly Michaela, but not totally in love with that. It doesn't matter if her formal name is related completely to Mica (I have another doll named Jocelyn who goes exclusively by JJ, so I'm all for suspension of belief). I also need a MN for her, so suggestions are welcome. She has red hair and green eyes, is possibly Irish and is quite outgoing. I'm thinking she is an only child with parents who work a lot.

Formica. Hard-working parents could be like ants, and she'd be pretty strong and tough, being left alone so much.Formica Maureen

My first thought was Michaela so I'm seconding that idea.

How about...Mair Caoimhe ("MIER" "KEE-va")Mair is the Welsh form of Mary. I don't know of any Irish "M" names which have the long "i" sound you want. Caoimhe is Irish and contains the hard "c" and "uh" sounds. Between the two names, you've got the sounds to form the nickname, Mica.Hope that helps.
