I'm pretty sure the only legit way to pronounce Penelope is 'pen-NELL-oh-pee'.

If I'm completely honest I dislike the name because I think PEN-ee-lop when I see it. I pronounce it pə-NEL-ə-pee though.

I pronounce it as Pe-nel-oh-pee.That's how I heard it pronounced on a British TV show (I'm a Dane), when I was a kid or something and that's how I've done it ever since. Also how I've heard it pronounced in programs from English speaking countries as an adult.

I pronounce it the first way although I did work for an attorney once who pronounced it PEN-eh-LOPE, lol.

Once I knew a girl whose nickname was Lopes - actually, her nickname was Penny (she never used her actual name) and Lopes (rhyming with ropes) was a pun on that. But that's all it was: a silly joke. I have never encountered anyone who seriously believed that Penelope could sound like Pennylope, and I hope I never do.
