Tamarann Tammy. Give the kid an option for when she's an adult.

Not clear what you mean.If you name someone Tamara, you can call her Tammy. If you name someone Tammy, you can't call her Tamara. So naming her Tamara makes sense and gives more options.

The answer to this is contextual. Since Tammy could be a nickname for Tamara, I would normally suggest going with the full Tamara myself. However, I am not a fan of Tamara as a name (it doesn't seem to fit the culture of my family, or my tastes) - so I like Tammy better of the two. In all honesty... I would say neither is better. I would go with another name (like Tamela, Tamsin or Tamar) and just use the nn Tammy.

Tamara nn Tammy

TamaraIt's much more attractive than Tammy. Either way if you use Tamara you get both options.

Tamara nn Tammy although if you can get away with Tamara without shortening it that's better imho (my friend Tamara does).

Tamara is more sophisticated and ages well. Tammy sounds too nick namey and childlike.

Tamara, definitely. tammy is extremely 1960s, and has a babyish quality; like Chrissy or Susie.

Tamara is better. Tammy is too dated and just doesn't have as much going for it, imo.

Tamara!!
I like the tah-MARE-uh (Mare rhymes with dare and scare) but tah-MAR-uh (Mar rhyme with car) is okay too.

I say Tamara, because Tammy sounds too much like a nickname.

I would say Tamara.(haven't read any of the other responses, so please excuse repetitions.)You could always use Tammy as a nick name, but I find it a bit flimsy for a first name.

Tamara. Tammy is better as a nickname.

Tamara. There are few things in the name world that I hate more than a nickname put on a birth certificate. Tamara sounds so much better on a resume or job application and as a name for a professional or the first female President than Tammy does. And if she can go by Tammy among friends and family, why not give her the more dignified option?

TamaraTammy could always still be a nickname. Tamara is more polished for a given name.
