Roland, pt 2
What 3-name combo would you make with Roland using
Ariel (ah-ree-ul)
Gilliland
Josiah
Solomon And why?Ariel is based on meaning and because of it's resemblance in sound to "R and L" (in-laws initials)
Gilliland is my maiden name
Josiah is biblical and because Of similarity in sound to my first name
Solomon is biblical, meaning, and because Solomon was a son of David (dh)Right now, I'm leaning toward Roland Ariel Gilliland-------------------
Love my little sparrow, Caemlyn Sparrow Gail; my Hucklebaby, David Royce Huckleberry "Huck"; and my Rain, forever in my heart

Roland Ariel Gilliland is very handsome and distinguished sounding. I also like the sound of Roland Ariel Josiah. It flows well and it might be nice to have one of the middle names be 'L' less.

As an impartial outsider, Roland Ariel Josiah would be my top pick for Roland combos because it feels handsome and distinctive and gets quite a bit of honoring done for you on both sides of the family (relating back to you and to your in-laws, as you describe) without repeating too many same/similar sounds.Using Gilliland, the impartial outsider in me prefers the sound of it with Solomon, so the ending "land" component doesn't repeat. Solomon Ariel Gilliland is a bit "l" heavy, but I prefer it, sound-wise, to Roland Ariel Gilliland which is "l" heavy and repeats the "land" component. Going purely on sound, I would prefer Solomon Josiah Gilliland, which still honors both sides, via his parents, but knocks out honoring your in-laws.Throwing the "impartial" away, and understanding that you really want to use your maiden name, I do think Roland Ariel Gilliland works for you. I'll repeat what I said in reply to your previous post...I don't think you should stress too much about creating a "namenerd perfect" name. If you truly love the names, and the meanings and honorings involved, and if you can let go of any "imperfections" you feel are outweighed by the other qualities that are important to you, then go for it.

Roland Ariel Josiah - I like the flow of this name. If I were choosing for myself this would be it.Roland Josiah Solomon - I like the incorporation of ties to both you and your husband in this one.

Roland Ariel Josiah flows the best I think. Have you considered Jesse? It's similar to your name, it's biblical, it means "gift" AND it's connected to David. Just a thought. And I think Roland Jesse Gilliland is really handsome. Roland Ariel Gilliland is OK, but too 'L' heavy for my tastes. And the initials RAG sticks out to me. My problem with the other names all go back to too many Ls. Roland Josiah sounds nice but feels a bit clunky when you add a third name after.

I suppose it would be Roland Josiah Solomon. I severely dislike Ariel for a boy. No matter how you pronounce it, it's still little mermaid to me. Although I would rather put Josiah for the first name, and possibly make it Josiah Solomon Gilliland.

Roland Solomon Josiah is my favorite. I think it has the best flow, but it doesn't use your maiden name. Roland Josiah Gilliland is my favorite with your maiden name, because it has decent flow in that it breaks up the -land's between the two names.

I'd go with Roland Josiah Solomon simply because those are the names I like the most.
I know Gilliland is your maiden name, but I think it's a bit weird to use as a MN. And Ariel is a feminine name to me.
