Need ideas for baby 2!
My family uses grandparents and great-grandparents names traditionally, but my cousins have declined to use almost any of them. I love them all (with a few exceptions) and want to carry this on, but I'm getting stuck. Maternal:
Betty Louise Cedars (Louise also my mothers mn)
Herschel Curtis Miles (I used Curtis for my son)Paternal:
Jeanette Octavia Mutchler (born Octavia Jeanette, she switched them on her marriage license)
Clurel Travis Hunter (Travis as mm used for ALL uncles, male cousins, nephews, etc. I don't like it)Both of my grandfathers were from large families who used the "same first letter" trend in the aughts:
Herschel Herbert Harold Howard, Clarence Cecil Clyde Clurel etc. I'm not sure I want to use these.Other, older names I could use:
Diademia, Hazel, Elsie, PhillipSo! this is what I have come up with. Hunter Louise
Octavia Louise Phillip Herschel
Miles CedarLove either girl names, totally uncertain on boys. Need opinions!!

Miles is pleasant, but it runs together with Cedar.I'd go for Philip Herschel. Both nice names, and I know a Philip with a Herschel father, so the mix is familiar.Octavia Louise has strength and dignity. I'd switch the order: Louise Octavia has a rhythm I prefer.Hunter is not a lifestyle I endorse, and seems particularly objectionable on a girl.

First, I love the name Herschel... simply adore it. I am happy that you added it to your options. I personally prefer Octavia Louise to Hunter Louise, though I do know a couple of female Hunters and they are exceptionally pretty and sweet girls. However, Octavia sound prettier, is quite uncommon and a name that oozes personality. I highly reccommend that choice, and think Louise is great because it honors both your mother, grandmother and the tradition of using family names. I am having trouble with the boys - but only because I like them both. Cedar and Herschel are both names I have wanted to use myself at one point or another, and I think you chose good solid names to pair them. Phillip Herschel is more my style, and I do prefer it of the two. It has a lot more class and antique oomph to me. Phillip you don't hear as often, and I am of the belief that everyone should have either a very significant middle name, a very statement middle name, or no middle name at all. You have both the significance and the statement piece built in. As for Miles Cedar - this I almost want to reccommend to you, because it is far more modern and mainstream, yet still interesting and unexpected. I think this would fit better in the naming trends for today... but still be a combo of names that have been used historically. I do want to point out that both names are noun-names though, in case that bothers you (doesn't bother me, I love noun-names). So, I guess I would reccommend Octavia Louise and Miles Cedar for a baby today, even though I really really love Phillip Herschel better.

Wow, that's a fantastic set of names to choose from. Curtis is great.I love Herschel, Betty, Cedars, Octavia, Mutchler, Harold, Howard, Clurel, Hunter, Clyde, Elsie, Phillip... And I don't know if I'd be able to resist using Diademia if I could find it in my family tree. Hunter and Octavia are both great names for a girl. I prefer Lou to Louise. Octavia Lou is lovely. Hunter Lou is more androgynous. Can't go wrong with Phillip Herschel or Miles Cedar, but I think I like the first because it's stodgier. The second sounds a bit more heard-of and on-trend, but I like that it's backed up by family names in your case. I'd use Cedars rather than Cedar if I had an excuse...it's so distinctive. How about?Herschel Cedars
Harold Cedars
Howard Cedars
Clyde Cedars
Phillip Cedars
Mutchler Cedars (well it's a bit much, but both grandmothers' last names...I think it's nice)And just because it's fun to make combos with Diademia...Diademia Jean
Diademia Clurelle
Clarence Diademia - Clarence can be a girls' name, right?...
Elizabeth Diademia "Betty"
Diademia Cedar
Hazel Diademia

Sorry but Hunter on a girl is horrible in my opinion. What about using Louise as the fn instead? It's not that common on baby girls anymore. Louise Octavia or Louise Jean sound better to me personally. Hazel and Elsie are both lovely names, I like them a lot. Miles Cedar is alright and Herschel I don't mind either. What about Miles Hunter? Hunter is better for a boy and for a mn to me, because I can't see an adult named Hunter, doesn't work for me.

I'm not the hugest fan of Hunter on a girl.Octavia Louise is pretty great though. I like Louise Octavia, as well.
Hazel Octavia or Hazel Louise would be nice options, too.I really like Miles Cedar. Cedar is such a cool middle name. Phillip Miles works, too!
