Millie and Pearl- how popular would they get?
I have been crushing on these two names lately. They are both on the rise in the US. How popular do you think they will get? Do you think they will ever break the top 100?

I don't think they will break the top 100 in the US. Millie, if anything, but I can't see Pearl getting that high.

I know a toddler Pearl here in Australia and there were two recent local BAs with Pearl as the middle name. I love it. Not so keen on Millie - it is well-used in the UK.

Millie is pretty popular in the UK but I know (think?) in the US it's much more thought of as an "old lady" name, which is the vibe that Pearl has here.I think they both have the capability of growing a lot in popularity; Millie because it's a "cute" nickname-y name - though saying that those are starting to die down a bit; - and Pearl just seems very Hollywood trendy, it could easily climb. Not sure whether either will break the 100 soon, my money is on Millie to do it first if at all.

In ths US, I expect it to take a while. Pearl is currently being relegated to middle name status, and people are choosing longer names to get the nn Millie. It seems to be one of those names that looks like it would be in style along with other nickname-names... but is not gaining as fast as it should. People seem to be going for word-names or short names like Eliza, Ruby and Jane that are considered "full" names. I personally love both.
Pearl is one I would like to use myself, but we have decided to go with Perlas - which is the equivalent in DH's country. As a middle name though. It is a great first imo. I feel the same way about Opal. Millie always makes me think of 1950s musicals, and I love it for that wholseome refreshing vibe. I really like it as a nn for Millicent or Amelia, but have considered using it as a full name spelled Milly. In any case, it is adorable and does age well despite it's apparent childlike-ness.

I love both names too. Not sure if they will crack the US 100 though. They are more in the style of the UK charts and Millie gets used here in Australia a bit.
