Re: What would you name your kids using your grandparents names?
Maternal: Pirjo Briitta Johanna and Kari-Antti Tapio
Paternal: Liisa Emma Efia and Jorma KyöstiMy own name is Emma Johanna: it would be a beautiful thought to use Emma and/or Johanna as MNs, creating then a tradition starting from my grandmothers. But seriously, I've considered to name my possible daughter Effia (Efia is a misspelled form of it). I'm also fond of Tapio, which is an old Finnish name: it would still be quite a fresh name, because it's not so common these days.

Do you know what Effia means? I have a great aunt Effie, and I'm wondering if they're related now.

My own conclusion is that Effia might be a variant of Efimia or Eufemia; in that case, Effia and Effie are related names. But this isn't sure, Effia is a very rare name, so I haven't found any official information about its meaning/background.
