If I had a son and a daughter right this second...Leah Frances & Nathan Michael. Have at it. "An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way." -Charles Bukowski

It's obvious from these names that you once escaped from a Turkish prison using only an emery board and a shoe-lace. Also, you can wiggle your eyebrows.

I'm really glad I swallowed my drink just now. LOL.

Your parents were working class, and always had big dreams for you. You're a college grad and you work in an office. You like pencil skirts and really good coffee. You're a bit critical of others, but that's just because you're super smart and most other people are usually total morons. You have long dark hair and your favourite colour is a really off-putting shade of green.

-They ARE working class, but as far as having big dreams for me? Nah. They never expected me to be anything but average. You're a college grad and you work in an office.
-No, and no. I'm a cook in a nursing home kitchen. :) You like pencil skirts and really good coffee.
-To this day I'm still not exactly sure what a pencil skirt is, but I DO like good coffee. You're a bit critical of others, but that's just because you're super smart and most other people are usually total morons.
-I AM a bit too critical of others. Not sure about the second part. :P You have long dark hair and your favourite colour is a really off-putting shade of green.
-I DO have long, dark hair (thinking of cutting it, actually), but my favorite color is red. :)

I'd think... someone somewhat religious, friendly, lives fairly simply... Doesn't care about flashy things. Hardworking. Sticks to their values. That's the impression I get.

Well, from the classic Biblical firsts, I would assume that you either were brought up in the church or that you now attend. They are considered traditional as well, so I imagine both the history and the meaning of a name matters to you. Both the story of Leah, the elder sister, and Nathan, the prophet, are about characters who were used by God to fulfill a purpose even though they were not crazy about it - yet they were honored in history for their part in it. This tells me that you value (cognizantly or not) success and importance, but don't feel like your children will have to become superstars or prodigies to succeed. A great balance of expectations. The middle names you chose seem like honoring names to me. I would guess that you have family members you want to be remembered. I base that on the fact that Michael is quite common, and usually used in reference to other people. So, it follows reason that Frances is honoring too. The fact that you chose names not based on popularity, but meaning, tells me that you are well educated as well as responsible. Since you didn't list nicknames... I am going to also assume that you are thrifty and logical. No idea why. ;)hope I am close!

You got some things right. It's funny how everyone assumes I would be religious, since I don't attend church. Honestly, I forget that Leah and Nathan are Biblical names, and I'm only vaguely aware of the story of Leah. I just like the way Biblical names sound, I guess. The part about Leah and Nathan reluctantly filling roles that needed to be filled? That's interesting to me. I feel like it says something about myself, because I often feel like the responsible one who has to do what needs to be done. My work isn't glamorous, but it's important, and someone has to do it. So maybe these particular name choices strike a chord in me, even if I don't know it.It's also funny how everyone assumes I'm well-educated. I'm a junior college dropout! Pretty low on the educational totem pole, but hey, I'm not going to complain about giving off an educated impression. It's not a BAD thing at all. :)As for being thrifty and logical...well, I'm definitely thrifty, and I like to think of myself as logical. I'll agree with that.

I guess I meant to say that you value education. I don't consider success at college a good indicator... but I would still guess that you did well in high school. I personally value education highly, but faltered a lot in school because I felt like there were more important things to do than homework. Yet - I happne to carry a lot more factual and useful knowledge than many of my peers. Though - i totally see how I was off on that one. It's funny how you don't attend church, but those characters are perfectly described in you second paragrph there. I wonder - did you ever attend? Only because I taught on Nathan last week, and I know that he often was the one telling people the way it should be or correcting their mistakes just because it had to be done. And, I always felt bad for Leah, being second best to her sister Rachel - but clearly also being responsible and forgiving.

No, I never attended church. Both of my parents were raised Catholic, but they chose not continue the tradition with their kids. I think they both struggled with their faith in a big way; it was one of the few things they had in common.I didn't do particularly well in high school, either. I passed, but I hated it so much I did the bare minimum for graduation and left it at that. I always struggled with math, and to a lesser extent, science. I loved to read, and I became something of an autodidact, but I was never a star student.

I would imagine the parents to be traditional, down-to-earth, and maybe religious.

Neither name is particularly my style, but I find them both classic and understated, and they're definitely the kind of names I can appreciate. I would assume the parents were well-educated, mature, and grounded, perhaps with a smidge of religious tendencies.

Leah Frances - Love Leah and Frances. A sweet, classic name.Nathan Michael - I find Nathan and Michael bland but they're classics. With your choices of names I'd assume you were middle class, career oriented, and valued education highly. Maybe you'd be involved in a few causes, some superficially. If I were to just hear your kid's names I'd think of you as a vanilla, middle class soccer mom type.

The vanilla, soccer mom thing is funny, since I don't even want kids. This thread is very interesting.

Yeah, it's fun to see the various things that come to mind for people when they see the names you'd choose. Even more so when they're nothing like you'd perceive it to be.

I don't know where this impression comes from so I may be well off the mark but I would guess you come from a close family background and you hope for your children to very grounded and possibly that you understand the value of working hard and appreciate what you earn from that.

Actually, you are the one who is closest to the mark. I am not a religious person, and neither is my husband; we value education but neither of us finished college (I went to a junior college for several years but didn't finish; he never went at all.) We both value hard work and we like to think of ourselves as grounded. I'd say your assessment is spot-on. :)
