Caprice?
I noticed on the comments for this name there are a lot of people saying Caprice was ugly and snobbish, the meaning included. I agree it is a little uppity but I like the sound of it.
I'm curious what the people on this board think of it?
Also, connotations and meaning aside, WDYT of the ring/flow of it?

I don't find it "snobbish". For some reason, I associate it with a cute little car. The sound of the name doesn't particularly draw me, but I don't hear anything "ugly", and I don't mind the meaning or necessarily perceive it in a negative light. Same goes for a name like Chance; one can take the meaning either in a positive or negative light, depending upon one's own life perspective.

not sexist and not uppity either. My take on caprice as negative or sexist: If the English word capricious is the main association with the name Caprice, Caprice could only be negative or "sexist" in a way similar to how Brutus or Vincent is negative or "sexist." Capricious connotes instability, but the emphasis isn't on mindlessness - it's instability combined with the power and freedom to act in a way that affects others.I think the word Caprice used as a name is kind of like Harmony - it describes a pleasing quality. It's the quality of having freedom to do as you please moment to moment; spontaneity. And it's about as snobbish or stripperish as Harmony, IMO - not very much of either but tending towards commonness.I don't favor the name because the capr- part always makes me think of goats.

I like it. It has a fresh sound to it. It's uncommon where I'm from...so I don't see it as snobby or whatever.

SexistI have to say it: Caprice and Capricia are two of the few names I actually find sexist, due to the popular assumption (prevailing in many social circles even today) that women are capricious and act without thinking.

I like the way Caprice looks and sounds yet I greatly dislike the meaning although I don't view the name as uppity. As a plus, however, I've never known a soul named Caprice.

The meaning is not so good, which wouldn't be a problem except it's an English word. But aside from that I find it trashy, as it reminds me of the model Caprice.

I actually really like Caprice. I like the sound, the look, and, yes, even the meaning. I don't really get why "impulse" is so negative; it isn't always a bad thing to follow your impulses and instincts (of course not always, but I wouldn't really call it a "negative" meaning, it just depends on how you take it. I guess I think the meaning is more neutral than anything). I mean, some people think it's trendy and edgy to name their girls "crooked nose" (Cameron), and I can't see any redeeming qualities in that, sooo..Yeah.I think Caprice could make a fun, spunky middle name, especially for a more dour first like Agatha or Minerva.

Ooooh! I love the idea of pairing it with severe names like that! Minerva Caprice sounds so nice.
I agree the negativity surrounding the meaning is weird, and I really can't comprehend how people see it as sexist.

I find it stripperish rather than snobbish.
