Casper and Desmond make a great sibling set, and it would be nice to see Casper being used more.

I love the name Casper, but I get a lot of flak for liking it. Casper & Desmond is a chic set!

Not as good as Jaspy, but still good.

Don't like it at all, probably the friendly ghost does it, which he will likely get teased about if you do name him Casper.

I know it's a strong association for a lot of people here, but I can't help but wonder just how relevant it would be for kids being born now. Is Casper the ghost still being marketed to kids these days?

I wonder what ages are of the people mentioning this character. I am 21 years old (the parents to be are 25 and 30) and I had to look up who Casper the ghost was. I had no idea. I don't think the parents know either but I will ask. Mom to be told me that Casper is a popular name in Scandinavian countries. From what I read this character is very old and the most recent show featuring this character was a movie in 1995 - 20 years ago.

To me it's just a friendly ghost. Sorry.

I was going to say all I can think of is the friendly ghost, but Desmond and Casper are such an adorable brother set you won me over when you said that. I think it does work even with the association. Its a relatively positive one.Desi and Cas would be great nicknames together.

I like Casper, but prefer it spelled Kasper. Sounds good with Desmond :)

Caspar is one of my favorites too.
I don't think it matters too much what the family roots are, but anyway there is nothing strange seeming about it, I don't think.
I prefer the spelling Caspar - it just looks right to me.

Caspar is one of my top names. Mostly because I love nn "Cass" and SO has a distinguished relative by the same name. I think it works perfectly with Desmond "Desi" though I don't know anything about how "fitting" it is with their heritage
