WDYTO Soleil?
Soleil means sun in French, what do you think about its potential for a name? What are some brother and sister names that would work with Soleil?

If you mean for a girl, Solène would be better. Soleil is a masculine word. I'd expect its siblings to be Mer & Sable.

You're thinking of a girl name, right? Oh well. If Addison, Evan and James, why not Soleil? Though I've got a funny feeling that people who do know French might shudder, and people who don't will have a hard time with the pronunciation.

One of my favourite French words. Not sure how well it works as a name though. For non-French speaking people it would probably be ok, although pronunciation may be difficult. French speakers may find it rather odd.Brothers and sisters:

I love it! Unusual, but so pretty. I probably wouldn't use it as a first name in a country that had no French at all, but I'm in Canada so I think it would work here.I know a Mikayla Soleil and I could see it easily working as a middle name anywhere.I wouldn't give Soleil's siblings French names. But I might like it with something else that feels so light and bright.Elise

It's used where I live (French-speaking Canada), usually as Marie-Soleil. But sometimes alone.I probably wouldn't use it, but I'm pleased when others do, nice happy name.

I like it. I think it's usable.
It has a hippie vibe, like Summer only much lighter and more fanciful. And it's also slightly glitzy or chintzy - like Jewel or Tiana or Luna or Janae. In an appealing way, though. It's cheap in the way that bubble soap is cheap - its vibe is, that price isn't the point at all.Not all of these would be in the same family...

I like it.I think it's very pretty in that not too frilly way that I respond to. Some people might say it doesn't work because of Cirque du Soleil, but I disagree. It works just fine as a person's name.
