Wendy and Audrey as a sibset
We're trying to narrow down and figure out a girl's first name for our third (if it's a girl). I've always loved the name Audrey and it's been on our list since before we had our first baby. But I'm not a fan of the fact that our daughter's name ends in a y too. Are Wendy and Audrey too similar in sound? If so, wdyt of these possibilities?
Edith
Fiona
Julia
Katherine
SylviaWe are pretty settled on using one of those names, but if you have any names that you love with Wendy, feel free to share. And sorry, but Tinkerbell is not option! :)

I knew a Wendy and Shirley sibset once, and it worked surprisingly well. Both names were firmly out of date, so the parents obviously had strong family reasons for using them, or else they just really, really liked them. But the girls they belonged to were excellent kids and that made the names work. That said, I rather like Shirley, don't enjoy Wendy and find Audrey thoroughly unpleasant. But that's just me.If you choose Julia, it's highly likely she'd end up as Julie, which might mean you'd prefer your favourite name with a similar sound. Same with Katherine, which could well be Kathy, Katie or even Kitty. And then there's Sylvie ... which seems to leave you with a choice of Edith or Fiona. Of the two, I prefer Fiona in general but with Wendy I'd like Edith better.

No I don't think they are too similar. The only similarity I see is that they both end in an "ee" sound, and I don't see a reason to eliminate a name based upon one tiny similarity like that.

Too rhymey, yes. All your other options work with Wendy.

I kind of agree with you on this. They do have a similiar ending. However, I really hate to see people not using the name the absolutely love.Do you love these names as much as you love Audrey? Could Audrey be a middle name?I think:Edith Audrey would be my number one pick.I think Fiona Audrey, or Julia Audrey work well, too. I also think those three first names are the best with Wendy.

I think Wendy and Audrey are charming together and not too close in sound. Of your other options, Sylvia is my pick with Julia as runner-up.

I think Audrey would be fine with Wendy as far as sound goes (they are not too similar), however I like Sylvia better with Wendy, from your list. Wendy is distinct in it's feel and style... and none of the names you listed really match that quirky personality. However, matchiness is not everything and Sylvia has the closest feel I think. Fiona would work well too.. as it is simple and lively... I personally think names like Alice, Amelia, Robin, Cordelia and Violet have a more whimsical feel that compliments Wendy. However, the choice is totally yours, and my vote is for Sylvia.
Congrats and good luck!

I don't think its too close. Sure they both end in an e sound but so do half the girls names these days! I think the other sounds are different enough. You say 3rd? I'm guessing your other child doesn't have a name ending in y? Are they in the middle? That makes it even less noticeable to me.I love Audrey and it's my favourite of your options, but I also like Katherine & Sylvia. I think any of the 3 fit well with Wendy (Sylvia is probably the best match style wise, but I think it's more important to use a name you love than one that "matches". They are only going to be grouped as siblings for a short part of their lives)

Yes, 3rd. :) The middle child is a boy and his name ends with ah.

Then it's definitely not an issue! Now I'm curious- what is his name?!? ;)

Micah. (Seriously hope none of our relatives lurk on this board haha... we never share names beforehand in real life!)

Love it!You should be alright, they are all common names so even if someone searches for the two you have already its very unlikely they'd stumble upon here.I think W, M & Audrey sounds good.

I don't like Audrey at all, it's so heavy and glum. Wendy is more dated, but it's perky and lively, the opposite of Audrey.
None of your other names fit well with Wendy either, except possibly Katherine/Catherine. Edith is downright ugly.
