I don't understand why she would not just call him Rain. It's not like it's a gendered thing in English. Reign feels similar to "royalty" names, like King or Royal or Prince or Duke. Not my style, but probably something this young man can bear stylishly - probably more stylishly than he would bear Rain, and without seeming to put on any airs.I'm pleased that she didn't name him Rein (pronounced rain).
I would have preferred Rayner. But that's me.

Wasn't there another celebrity baby who was given the name Reign? I want to say it was a girl, too. This seems to be the celebrity baby name du jour.

I've always thought it was odd when people give their children names like the one's you've described above. It kind of does the opposite of what they mean for it to, simply by trying to hard. Rain or Rayner, or Rainier would have been nicer.
