Whether it is or isn't cool is not the point. Eyan, apart from looking like Eeyore's cousin, suggests the sound IEan, rather than EEan.
There is of course Iain as an alternative to Ian. Just as Owen is an alternative to Eoin. But the alternative is only in the spelling, not the pronunciation.
If you really need an alternative pronunciation, I recommend the marvellous Ieuan.
