Sighting and a few other names
On local TV there was a young woman called Percilia. According to a Swedish statistic site there is only one Percilia in Sweden, so obviously that's her. Apparently percilia is a family of fishes.
I feel sorry for her, because her name sounds almost exactly like the Swedish word for parsley (persilja).
WDYT about Percilia? Also, what do you think of the names Dawn and Emily?
I don't know what to think about Dawn. The meaning is beautiful, but I think the word in itself is kind of ugly, it's like "drown" or "drool"...
I've also realised that I like Emily very much. OK, it's common (it is, isn't it?), but it's just so soft and sweet!Does the sea exist
Because of our longing?

Perhaps her name is meant as a fem form of Percy, or a variation on Priscilla. Parsley is hilarious! My aunt used to work at an orphanage run by a church, and we were always hearing about what the Reverend Parsley had been doing - it's bad enough as a ln, but for a church minister I'm afraid I had to battle against giggling, every time.My friend's mother is Dawn. She hates it, finds it flimsy and sentimental. I've also got a chain-smoking Dawn step-niece, so my impressions aren't good. And I totally love Emily! It hasn't taken off where I live, which I find surprising actually - it's so beautiful.

Seems like a weird combination of "persilja" and Pernilla. Not a fan. I don't like Dawn or Emily either. I think they are boring and dated. O do like Emilie or Emmeline though.

Percilia: well, it's unique, and namey. NMS but ok. Makes me think of supercilious.I've never been a fan of Dawn. I agree, the AW is ugly, and the word isn't attractive in itself, probably because of the verb form, it dawns on you, and because of the primarily cliche usage of the noun. Crack of dawn, dawn to dusk, dawn of a new age. I like Emily too, it is a lovely name. I just have associated it with too many other things, to favorite it.

Can't say that I care for Percilia; it feels mucous-related or perhaps medicinal.I like both Dawn and Emily, the former more because of the imagery it brings rather than for it's sound; I enjoy Dawn more in the middle. I find Emily warm and bright and friendly and enjoy it as a first or middle.

Percilia - sounds like her parents couldn't choose between Pernilla and Cecilia.I like both Dawn and Emily.

Percilla is a very unusual name, doesn't sound to bad, but it is unfortunate that her name sounds like parsley. Dawn is a name I am unsure of, I have used it for characters not that often, and I do find the meaning lovely but it does sound a bit ugly or belonging to a snobby fake person.
Also Emily is a nice name, I much prefer it to Emma. Though I like Emilia the most as well as Amelie, I think it still has the nice sound of Emily but a little different.

Percilia is interesting. But not something I'm really drawn to. It's meh at best. I don't like Dawn at all. To me it feels dated and a bit downturn. For the meaning, I'd take Aurora over Dawn any day. Emily is nice. A bit common, but nice. It's probably while I'm drawn to the name Emmeline (with the pn emma-leen). Very similar sounds, but Emmeline has a bit more charm to me.

Percilia is pretty at first glance, but I am not sold. I don't love the meaning and I think they could have gone with Priscilla and gotten a similar sound and a classier look. But, who am I to talk? - I love the name Prinia, which is just a type of bird. As for Dawn and Emily...
I like Dawn. I have a cousin who is my parent's age named this, so it seems a bit dated to me. However, if I step back and really think about the word "dawn" it is so much prettier. Plus, it has the Babysitter's Club cool-factor (a scale which is totally personal and completely invented, which dictates that any name found within the pages of the series is automatically awesome).I think it usable and sweet. I don't see the ugliness of the word at all though. Emily is one of those sweet names that you just have to like. It's a bit popular, but it carries such life and innocence that it's always a lovely choice. I really like it. My sister was going to name her second child this, but she had a boy.
