Re: Using Zoe
in reply to a message by Bex
I know somebody whose name is Tina Zoe. She was named after her grandma, Zoe Bernice, who was always called Bernice. They pronounce Zoe like Joe rather than Joey, which is kind of odd.
I think Zoe with one syllable makes a more attractive middle name than the two-syllable version. If I was your aunt I might not be thrilled to have a new baby given the name of my deceased baby for a middle name, but at the same time, the whole issue of Zoe in your family seems to have gotten out of hand. Your grandmother wanted a third daughter to name Zoe, and since then she has been lobbying for somebody else to name a baby Zoe. You were almost named Zoe but weren't; one of a set of quadruplets was named Zoe and did not survive. I think it's time to put Zoe to bed. Your grandmother could have gotten a cat or dog to name Zoe all this time; maybe the fact that Grandma had a cat named Zoe would have dissuaded your relatives from using the name for a baby, but would they have wanted to use Zoe if your grandmother hadn't kept harping on it?I think, therefore I judge.
