Honestly, I think Ferris IS the least confusing/more friendly/more common spelling. All you have to do is say "like a Ferris wheel" and people should know how to spell it, if they know how to spell at all. It's a good trick.Although I guess you could go with Faris "like Paris with an F". That's a good trick too. But I bet you a dollar that then you'll get Pfaris at least once.

AgreeFerris is already a recognizable word and last name (I went to school with some Ferris kids). I wouldn't change it, but if you did "Paris with an F" seems the easiest to do.
