Re: Scott
I have never liked this name much, even though there's nothing really "wrong" with it: it's easy to spell and pronounce, is very clearly identified as male, isn't weird or unfamiliar, has been current more or less for a few generations, and goes nicely with a lot of other names.
I just ... dislike it. The sound of it annoys me and I get this image in my head of a guy with a greasy mullet and a flannel shirt with the sleeves torn out.I think, therefore I judge.

I have an image of a jock with a sports jacket. There was a jock boy at my middle school whose name was Scott Smith. So so common.

My friend married a Scott Smith. :)

Imagine it's the same Scott as we're both in Canada and around the same age! But the name is common and unspecial enough.

Maybe, but it seems like there could be many Scott Smiths. I'm in Winnipeg.
