I think it's a lovely name. But I agree with you about it being not so great if people around can't do the French accent. Saying it "Ray-MAWND" in an American accent isn't nearly the same as a French speaker saying it in French. The initial R is so different, the stress is different, the A and O are different.
Rémi sounds different in French, too, but it's not as bad. If she really went by Rémi every day all the time, it could be okay. It might make it worth the slight difficulty, because when a dad is attached to a favorite name for a daughter that's a very cool thing.
