Wot? No royal baby name predictions?
If this has been posted lately I apologize. But I haven't seen one and I'm bursting at the seems to name William and Kate's new baby for them. What are your predictions? How about one or two realistic ones for each gender, followed by wild-card entries. We'll see how everyone does in the next few weeks. Mine:Alice Dorothea Charlotte (Philip's mother + Kate's grandmother + Charles)
Frederica Mary Nightingale (£ 100 on this one)Michael Philip Charles (overlapping family names, two-fers)
Francis Valentine Ambrose (for Diana Frances)

"Elizabeth Diana" has an especially nice ring to it. I'm hoping it's not Elizabeth though. Love the name, but I'm hoping they pick something more "old lady / old man" to bring the name *back.* I know it will be safe. I'm just hoping it will be a tad more adventuresome within their family trees. But yes, Elizabeth Diana Anne is a good guess at a realistic choice. Charles William Philip would be too, except I don't think they use a name of a living member as the first name. Wait. That would go for Elizabeth too. I don't have a clue what I'm typing. :oP Thanks for the response!

Hey at least nobody here is doing this:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/theweekinpictures/11561091/The-week-in-pictures-25th-April-2015.html?frame=3274450Anyway, I can't figure out why there hasn't been a British royal girl named Victoria yet and I want one dammit.

It's one of Princess Eugenie's mns- Eugenie Victoria Helena. I think it would be a good name. Not too common among the family, still obviously royal.Just not Diana. That's the only thing I'm hoping for if it's a girl. They're comparing Kate to her late mother in law all the time, and even a Victoria Diana Elizabeth would be stuck as 'Princess Di' in the media, and they'd treat her like Diana reincarnate or something, and she'd have no privacy, and the hated cycle continues with the media.

It's a second kid, so the newness of it all has worn off. If it's a girl interest will definitely pick up, but if it's another boy no one will care. The heir and the spare, and all that.

dittoThis question was included as part of a random survey that Billina did over in the Lounge a couple weeks ago, but we've been lucky over here.
Put a dozen or so names from the royal family's oldest generation and draw a handful. Same old same old; they're not gonna surprise anybody and they aren't gonna tax their brains.

Where is Vekalvin when you need him, eh?

B-b-but. . . how am I supposed to resist? I'm a pretentious, BBC-addicted name nerd? It's like they are having the kid just to drive me batty.

Princess Charlotte Adelaide Diane (Charles + Mary Adelaide- the last princess of Cambridge + Diana)
Prince James Arthur Philip (Family name on both sides + Charles and William's middle name + Philip)My wild card entries will be:
Lillian Katherine Irene
Elias Oscar Jonathan

Charlotte Adelaide Diane is gorgeous. I'm hoping they'll pick something less popular here in the U.S. to give an old name new life. But Charlotte is undeniably a great choice, for any one. And it honors many in their families. Using the last princess of Cambridge, Adelaide, is a nice touch. The possibilities for a girl seem endless, while the boy names never seem to veer very far off course. James Arthur Philip is very handsome. But oh, to have a little Prince Elias Oscar Jonathan would be something. Especially Prince Oscar. Lillian Katharine Irene is lovely too. Thanks for the feedback! :0)

I know, I'm shocked too. I saw a magazine that jumped the gun and/or got some bad info and had headlines as though the baby had been born already and I was like WHAT. But it hasn't happened yet.I've been hearing that Alice and James are favourites for names, and those are nice. I also still think Mary is a contender, and I guess Alexandra is out now, since Alexander is one of George's names. Caroline would be nice too - that's a royal name and it would honour Kate's mom, and I'd love to see Catherine used as well, for herself. Alice Catherine Caroline, that sounds suitably royal. Or Mary Catherine Caroline... hmm, too Catholic for those Anglicans, you think?
I also hope they use Nightingale. First name. Princess Nightingale Elizabeth Rose. I'm into it.

Haha -- Her Royal Highness, Princess Nightingale Elizabeth. Nighty-night, Nightie? When they first announced last fall my two favorite options for a girl were Alice and Mary. Great minds think alike. :0) Caroline works for both sides. So many possibilities. They'll have to have surrogates having kids for years to satisfy my naming bug. I've heard James is one of the popular favorites too. But isn't there a cousin already with that name on William's side? Besides, George and James is too samey for my ears. I shall not allow it.
