Re: Vivian/Vivienne
I used to be the biggest Vivienne fan, with that spelling too. The name itself is gorgeous in my opinion. It's meaning of "life/alive" is so uplifting and appropriate on a baby or person in general. The sound of the name is both spunky because of the trendy "v", but also smooth in the ending. It rings classy to me too. So, obviously I love the name.
However, I have switched my preferences from Vivienne to Vivian. Possibly influenced by Vivian Vance, but more likely because Vivian is a little more sexy and short. It gives it a bouncier appearance, and take some of the overt sophistication of Vivienne and makes it pert and trendy. I do also like Vivien a lot, though I know plenty considered that solely masculine. I would be likely to use the Vivien spelling over the others though, simply based on popularity trends right now. Vivian is incredibly popular in the States (sad face) and Vivienne is rising right behind. Vivien though, that seems to be forgotten ;).______________________________________________
