Part of the reason we like Marley is because of Bob. We sing Three Little Birds at least once a day. The song is helping us get through this difficult time for us.
Marley we'd use for either gender. I don't know about Marle.

I perfectly can understand liking a name because of a popular figure, but to me something like Marley is so strongly tied to Bob Marley that it seems a little silly to me. Maybe I'm just miserable and overly-critical. In any case, it certainly becomes more usable to me in the middle name spot, which I'm guessing is what you're going for?
Marle could work for either gender, imo, and it has an aristocratic air about it, which I like.

It would definitely be a middle name. Would you pronounce Marle the same as Marley or would you pronounce it "marl". Because all I hear is the beginning of Marlboro.

I think either pronunciation works! I'd prefer Marle, personally, but then I didn't think of Marlboro.

There are two "L" names I was debating on. I just realized that as of right now, my son pronounces one of those names (Lissy) with a "Y" (Yissy). I think I'm just going to embrace it. I think it will be a sweet memory in years to come.
