Need a really uncommon names
Heylo, how's everyone doing? (: I need some suggestions on a highly uncommon name or even made up which may be best. This will be for a character who's half supernatural on his mothers side (shape shifter) and half human on his dads side. He shapeshifts into humans and is just over 200 years old. He's the good guy who's helping the major characters destroy his older brother that's the #1 antagonist throughout the series.
I need a name that really sticks out but have a normal nickname for him to go by if he can.
Like Arcadius (no available nn though) Alaric (Al or Rick). Preferably a name that doesn't scream human. You know like how Voldemort was made up but nothing that sounds menacing and omnious. This is the good shapeshifter

Cade could be a nn for Arcadius. It might not have always fit in, but it does now.I'm not good at names that don't scream human, unless you wanted Fido or Rex for a pet.

I like the premise of the character so far. Ari, Cade or Dee all could work as possible nick names for Arcadius. Are you certain about the nick name having to be derived from his actual name? He could have an unusual real name and a completely unrelated nick name. For instance C.S. (Clive Staples) Lewis went by Jack. No connection with his real name whatsoever. Other possible names:
Athelstan- nick name Stan
Hesperos- Ross? Ero?
Tryggvi- Vi/Vee/V or Ty
Volundr
Tamrat- Tam
Hiawatha- Watt
Taranis- Tar
Djehuti- DJ
Gwalchmei- Mei
Gwydion- Dion
Wulfsige- Wolf, Sige
Sigeweard- Si
Cynefrith- Cyne although this might sound like sign which could get him mistaken for a hipster.
Arnórr- Ari
Bjartur- Art
Eileifr- Lee, Leif, Ei
Hallvardr- Hal, Vard
Aramvar- Aram
Skender- Ken
Yllikomaris- Maris, Li
Vasilikai- Kay, Kai
Muireadhach- Read, Reid
Rothfinndr- Finn You could look at the Anglo-Saxon, Ancient Scandanavian and muthological names for inspiration. They have a lot of names that you rarely see these days.

Hmmmm. It would be male. Feminine names are easier for me. This site has some excellent options if you go to the home page, click "More . . . ." You'll see a long list of categories like Persian mythology, Amharic and Manx. You could rearrange the letters or sounds to come up with something entirely new. You can refine the search further by choosing masculine only names, or not. Up to you. I'd do it for you but i'm incredibly lazy. :0)
