Re: It's finally my turn to decide on a name!
Girls:
Penelope- I really like it. It's fun and quirky and spunky. She has lots of nicknames to choose from.
Eleanor (Ella)- Eleanor is lovely as well, very classy and stately. And Ella has really grown on me once I started to view it in a vintage light rather than a trendy one. I used to have a toddler named Eleanor "Ellie" at the day care I worked at, and I felt it worked really well on a modern child.
Gloria (mn only)- Girl, I'd use Gloria right up front! It's criminally underused, and so retro-chic. Plus, Glo is the coolest nickname ever.
Joy (mn only)- I think it would make a really good middle name and would pair easily with a lot of other names.
Noel- I'd like this if it was spelled Noelle. Spelled this way, I think of the male name Noel. Noelle, however, is very underused, fresh, slightly mysterious.
Willa- I like it as well. It's got a vintage feeling and also reminds me of prairies, probably thanks to Willa Cather.
Suri- Not a fan. All I think of is Tom Cruise and I strongly dislike him.
Adelaide- It's okay. I think you may run into pronunciation issues if you're in the US- even as a namenerd, for a long time I thought it was "AID-ah-laid."
Adya- Never heard of this, and not sure I like it.
Britta- It reminds me of britta water filters. Otherwise, it sounds like it's missing something or like it's short for something like Brittany.
Britain- I'm not a place name fan, in general. To me this just sounds like you named her after a country.
Brooke- It's alright. Doesn't do much for me. I'd be more keen on it as a middle name.
Cameron- I only like this for a boy.
Camilla- I kind of like it, but there are others on this list I like more! Camilla is a tad too soft for me. Not enough strength.
Claire- I do like it, but as someone who recently worked with toddlers, I must say that Claire and Clara are all over the place, at least in my area. If you're concerned with popularity, Claire might be an up-and-comer.
Colby- This is a male name to me.
Cora- I think Cora is sweet and vintage. I like it.
Daisy- It's alright. I picture it as being very juvenile, though.
Ella- Like I said above, I've really come to like Ella. We had an infant Ella at my day care who turned me around on it.
Eva (ee-vuh)- One of my favorites. I don't ever see it in real life, either. Simple but memorable.
Holland- See Britain.
Imogen- I like Imogen. In my area, it would be entirely unexpected and for some even unheard of. Several nickname options as well.
Ingrid- Never been a fan of this one. The sounds are too harsh for my taste.
Ivy- It's okay, but I can't quite shake the "poison" association.
Joby- Does nothing for me. Sounds childish.
Juliette- I love Juliet and think it's lush and romantic and basically a perfect name. Adding that extra -te changes my opinion completely, though. I think Juliette is overdone, and the extra -te are unnecessary.
Lorelei- I like this one, and I think it's still unexpected, despite the Gilmore Girls association (I never watched it, so I may not be the best authority though!)
Lyla- I like Lila, but not Lyla. I think the Y cheapens it and makes it seem trendy.
Macy- Reminds me of three things: the store, the "Teen Mom," and a character on my mom's soap opera. None are particularly pleasant associations.
Madalena- Not really my style. I'd prefer something simpler like Madeline.
Paige- It's a bit dated and doesn't compare to some of the others on your list.
Rory- I'd only use it for a boy, and also find it a bit difficult to say.
Sabra- There's a brand of hummus with this name, so that's all I think of.
Thora- I find it the opposite of Camilla- too strong. It sounds overbearing to me.Boys:
Percy- I can never take it seriously. The association with a nerdy, sniveling kid is too strong.
Jude- I like it. Simple and handsome.
Benedict (mn only)- As a middle name, sure.
Linus- Still reminds me of the Peanuts character- at least it's a cute association.
Emmanuel (mn only)- Anything goes with middle names, as far as I'm concerned.
Adael- I have never heard of this and have no idea how to say it.
Adiel- This makes it a bit clearer. Still can't say I like it much.
Asher- It's alright, a tad trendy.
Azriel- Not bad, I have nothing against it.
Ezra- I've never really cared for it, but it's not a bad name. Just not my style.
Simon- It's okay. Doesn't do much for me.
Arlo- I kind of like it. There's something cool about it.
Edmund- I'm not a fan of Ed- names, and this is no exception. It sounds horribly drab to me.
Ephraim- It's okay, may run into pronunciation issues.
Ezekiel (mn only)- I think as a middle name it would be interesting.
Ilia- I've only seen it spelled Ilya before. Somewhere like the US, it would be seen as "too feminine" by most people. I do kind of like it- being into figure skating and coming across male Russian figure skaters with this name helps, I suppose.
Lucius- Malfoy immediately comes to mind.
Quinn- I see this as more of a feminine name- however I have a strong association with it- the character from Glee- so that's probably why.
Reuben- It's okay, but again, doesn't do much for me.
Raphael (mn only)- Sure. It's fun and not often used.
Reuel- It's okay.
Shiloh- Not a fan.
Silas- Not bad, though I used to like it more than I do now.Overall, I like a lot of your girls names and a couple of the boys as well.
