If you had to....
If you had to switch your gender right now and pick a name for yourself more closely associated with the opposite (to what you are now) gender, which name would you choose? It may not necessarily be your favorite, but what you think would suit you. Or a favorite. Either/or or both.

Christopher Lewis, funnily enough if I was a boy one of the options would have been Christopher

Probably Emil after my grandfather. I know my dad would have liked to use that as a middle name for one of my brothers and my mom regrets that she vetoed it.Maybe Emil Anton or something?

Marcus. I think it suits me, and it honours my father. I'd keep my middle name (Maria) the same, as it isn't uncommon in the Netherlands for men to have Maria as (one of) their middle names. And it honours my grandmother.

Rufus. I'm a redhead :) My name would've been Damian if I were a boy. At least that would've been spelled right! Haha.

Hmm, this is interesting. What male name would suit me? I think I'd be a Flynn or a Gareth.

In reality I would choose Rudi Johannes. In a fantasy world I would choose Apollo Archimedes.

Strangely I'd always fancied Max for myself if I were to change my name but keep my gender... As a boy though I don't think I'd be a Max.Instead I'd chose:
Alexander Milo, but I'd identify myself as Lex.

There's no male equivalent that's really similar to my actual name, perhaps Elias is the closest but I don't think it would suit me; it's too dark and heavy. I think Harris or Robert "Robbie" or Rory would suit me though.

I think I would choose Oscar. It's beautiful, classical, royal (in Sweden at least) and known by everyone. Plus it's the name of my favorite theater.
My parents would, maybe, have named me Patrik or Magnus, had I been a boy.

Off the top of my head, my first thought was Ross as it's similar to my current first name, but it sounds a bit odd with my surname, so I would choose Rory. It contains a lot of the same letters as my current name and I think it would suit me. I'd pick a middle name beginning with J as we all (co-incidentally) have J middle names so Rory James.

Giggle! I looked up my name's ranking, found the male equivalent, and squawked with dismay. I really, truly am not and could never be an Ernest.I'd be Tom quite happily, and my grandfathers were both Thomas, so it'd be a convincing choice. Couldn't be David because of my birth ln. I suspect my mother might have considered Keith, because of someone she knew who died young; also, we've got a very dear Keith friend. So - drumroll - introducing Thomas David Keith Otherme.

If I had to switch my gender right now, I wouldn't pick a name similar to mine. I'd probably go with something totally different. Felix Johannes

Corin would be my male name. As well as being my favourite name of all time, it would suit me to no end. Most of my female names don't suit me- they either suit someone really mysterious and awesome, someone fairy-tale beautiful, or someone really adorable and constantly happy. Neither of which I am. I do wish I was mysterious and awesome, though. Constantly happy and fairy-tale beautiful wouldn't be curses, either.

Luca or Lucas is probably what I would have been called which is very similar to my name Lucia, although my mum also talked about Otis as a name for me which I don't think would work especially with my last name.

My parents first choice for a boy was James, if they'd had two boys they would have had a Stuart as well. I am not a James. I don't think I'm really a Stuart either though I'm more of a Stuart than a James. I think something similar to my female name, simple, classic, timeless, John maybe? I'd make a good Johnny I think.

I would've been Kyle Evan if I was a boy, probably, but I'm not sure how well that fits me. If I were going with names that were popular around the time I was born, I'd probably like to be a Samuel "Sam." Otherwise I'd maybe like to be a Leo or a Flynn or a Corin. Something like that. Leo August?

I love Alexander, and I think that would suit be. I would probably go with that, or something a bit more unusual here like.... Dominic?

Peter, I think. I like it a lot, I think it would suit me and I feel like it's something my parents easily could have named me had I been born a boy. Or maybe I'd give it a Scandinavian twist and go with Peder. Either one would be a good fit.

Probably Cormac. I use my first initial for a lot of things so having the hard C sound makes it familiar, as does the Irish roots. But it's both historical and fresh-sounding, which I love, and a little more unusual than my own name.Callum would also work for me, and I love its meaning.

If I had to switch my gender right now I would pick a similar name to my current name. So instead of Jodi and I would go with Joash. it's got the Jo and I really love it. I think I could pull it off.

If I were a man I think I'd be a good Adam. I just think it would work for me. The name my parents had picked out for me if I were a boy was Joseph Patrick.

I could keep my name, where I live now,Jean being a man's name.Or I might be David, it's always been my favourite man's name.

There is no male counterpart to my name but I guess I'd pick my all time favorite male name, Nicholas.

Gabriel Francis Stewart or Gabriel Seamus StewartGabriel is the possible original name of my grandfather so i'm particularly attracted to the name because of that. Francis is the name of a WWI veteran that I researched/studied at uni, and I feel a really close attachment to the man I learnt so much about. Stewart is my grandfathers name and it is my fathers middle name, my brothers middle name and my grandfathers family's surname (from his mother I think).Seamus is just a name that I like and a link to my family's irish and scottish roots.

My name is Charlotte and I would be Carl. Though, I suppose I should change my middle name too... It's Marjorie. I haven't thought about that one before.*spends most of an afternoon searching the site for possibilities*Carl Micha
Carl Malachi
Carl Michael
Carl Merlin
Carl Myron
Carl Mackenzie
Carl Milton
Carl MorganI dunno. One of those I guess.

Sean, probably. My name is Shannon, which could work either way, but if I had to make a switch Sean is at least related.

That is so hard! I have literally no association with the male identity so I can't even imagine answering to a male name.
Heinrich comes to mind because it is so similar. But, if I were choosing the name today, I would go with something unexpected, borderline ridiculous, and intant-coversation-inducing.... Probably Ebenezer.

Hmm, never really thought about it. Maybe Thomas?

Nathan. It's my favorite boys' name, and I think it would suit me. Win-win.

My parents would have named me Michael Gary, but that doesn't "fit" me. But I still would like to pick something that reasonably seems like something my parents would have picked? Going to go with Adam LeviAdam is my younger brother's middle name, so in this reality he's probably Joshua Daniel. I doubt my parents would have ever picked Levi, but they did pick either biblical or honoring middle names

My father had a brother named Gary Michael and my mother had a brother named Michael; both of them died before my parents were married, so they'd picked out Michael Gary for their first son. They beat The Office by 10 years.

Oh, I knew you were older than that. I was noting the coincidence.

I think I'm going to have to go with Callum. Callum John Clark? Callum John Ephraim?Runners up:
Benedict "Ben"
Theodore "Theo"
Mackenzie?

I'd go with Andrew as it's not too far off my name (Anna). Not sure about a middle name, maybe something like Andrew Peter or Andrew James.

I'm going to call my feminine side Yvonne. I have always thought the name glamorous and mysterious, and a bit edgy.
vote up1
Ooh, I like Yvonne. It's one of my favourites.
I think you're the only male commenter, haha.

I agree with the name assessment. Yvette and Yvonne have always seemed that way to me.

I would have been Ryan Christopher if I was a boy. I think that fits well.Robert Christopher was a runner up too, and I would have preferred that. I love both of those names but together they are pretty boring.

Wow! I've never considered this before and have absolutely no idea what male name would best suit me. There's a strong likelihood that I would have been named Joseph had I been a boy, but even that doesn't feel right to me.Let's see: I can picture myself using something classic like Daniel or Jonathan or Adrian but again, they just don't feel right. Interesting ...
