Does August sound bad in the possessive? August's Toys
Does August's sound funny in possessive? We were almost sold on this name until I started playing around with it out loud. Is it a tongue twister to say August's toys
August's homework
I love August's face.Just want to make sure this is gonna work?

Sounds okay to me.

I know an adult August and there's never been a moment of tongue-twistedness. So I'm sure you can relax!

I think it sounds fine. Don't worry about it. :)

I absolutely love the name August! I understand what you mean about August in the possessive, it's a bit of a tongue twister, but I think it's fine =)

Probably the it is going to kind of fade out, but I think it's ok. It wouldn't stop me from using the name if you otherwise truly like it.

Oh dear, and I thought I was bad when I had to chose a name for our son.
It's just fine. Seriously. There are more important things to worry about.

Yes, it is, and what happens is people just say "August' shoes" and "Augus'toys" and they don't even think about it, everyone hears what they mean and not what they say. It works OK. A lot of names have these issues. I think you're just thinking about it too hard. If it bothers you too much, maybe you are just not that comfy enough with the name in general.Beth's still at it.
Ernest's toys are scattered.
I'm Millie.
Ashley actually did.
Ariel'll be there.
I missed Stella.

I agree. August has been my favourite boys' name for over five years now, and this has never bothered me much.

I personally think it works fine. I might be biased because August is one of my favourite names of all time. I think virtue names sound much weirder in this context Grace's eyes, Destiny's breakfast etc. and they make fine names.

Could always shorten it to Gus or something? Or maybe use it as a middle name. Or use his middle name as his "use" name (for example, I know a little girl named Autumn Grace, but everyone calls her Gracie).August is a bit of a tongue twister, but it's certainly not the only name that is. And I honestly think it'd be harder to say, "Augustus's toys," if you were using that variant. I guess I'm not sure how people usually handle this as most people I know seem to have much "easier" names.
