Frederick is tied for my favorite boys' name. :) Sullivan is very Monsters, Inc and I've never cared much for Abel.

Sullivan - as a ln, it's fine. As a fn, it could so easily shorten to Sully, which is not particularly flattering.
Frederick - family name for me, though not close to the top of my list. Good name; I might actually like the name better if I didn't remember my uncle Fred so clearly!
Abel - family name on DH's side. Pronounced AHbel, long a sound. Not a name that I could readily warm up to; too much 'innocent victim' built in.

I'm a huge nickname lover so the nickname options for Sullivan and Frederick automatically make me like them. However, I can't make myself like them enough to put on my list. I don't mind surname names at all, especially if they have special meaning to me, but Sullivan sounds too surname-y to me. I do love the meaning though.
My uncle is named Frederic so I've never thought of this name as a possible favorite but I do like hearing it on other people
I've been thinking about adding Abel to my top 10 for a long time. I'm not sure I could see myself using it but it's handsome and I like the meaning. Abe could be a nice nickname, too.

Sullivan - I don't like it at allFrederick - love it, makes a good mn but also like it as a fn with the nn Freddie or RickAbel - bad associations... I've watched Veronica Mars

Sullivan- hmm. NMS, but it does sound nice, and look nice, I must admit. I've heard the nickname 'Sully' used. Cute, and very Monsters Inc to me, but there is the problem of the literal meaning of the word 'sully'- your child is not sullying the world! They are making it better! They are making you happy! Don't call them 'sully'!
Frederick- I can appreciate it. Both Fred and Frederick are cute but NMS, likewise Ricky, though I find that slightly better.
Abel- love. I think bible names are more often than not actually really nice. It's a shame, because I'll end up giving any children horribly religious names (I love a lot of names from other religions and cultures too, especially Islam), and everyone will think I'm a fanatic. I'm not. I've always been resolutely atheist. Even when I was three, and harshly informed my one-year-old sister that Santa didn't exist. I don't think she understood me.

Would people really think that about Sully? I like the nickname, and it has never crossed my mind.

When I hear Sully I think first of James P Sullivan, the cuddly blue character from 'Monsters, Inc.' Then I think of Byron Sully from 'Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman'. Both characters are called Sully and I never once thought of them sullying anything.

I don't know; I expect most people wouldn't mind even if they did think of that. But it's a favourite word of mine, so it bothers me.

Sullivan-surname! No, not as a first name. Frederick-a 6 on a scale of 1-10.Able-able was I ere I saw Elba. I use to know a mane named Able, Iranian fellow.

They're all nice.Fave is Frederick, then Abel, then Sullivan, though I really do like Sullivan, so I feel bad putting it last. :PThe problem with Abel is that it sounds like 'able'. :/I like that Frederick can easily be shortened to either Fred or Rick (or Freddy, Ricky, etc).Sullivan sounds like a last name, but I like it as a first as well. All three names feel distinctly masculine.Frederick Abel Sullivan would actually be a pretty good combo, yes?

Sullivan - I really like it. I would never use it personally but I like the sound and look of it and I'm happy to see others use it. Frederick - not a fanAbel - I like it. It's on my PNL but I'm not sure it has a place on my list really. I probably liked it a lot more before. I like it pronounced both like able and AH-bel.
