I actually like Mandy, and very much dislike Amanda. Amanda is plodding and heavy and dated, in my opinion. I wouldn't consider using Mandy, really, but I like it enough. It does remind me of Andy Pandy, though, which was a children's television show in the UK (not sure if it aired anywhere else) - if you google it, he looks mortifying, but I grew up with an updated and less terrifying version of him.
