...although I do love the names Walter and Emerson (boy or girl for that one) so I'd love to work one or both in there too. Also, Blake would be an honoring name I could throw in the mix. Bodhi (meaning "awake" in the Buddhist tradition) has been on my mind today though (for either a boy or girl) so I'm testing it out I guess. :)

Our son's names were largely my doing, so for another one I'd use a tradition from DH's family: an H name + Daniel. The original ancestor used Daniel, and who wouldn't - his first name was Horace. And I prefer Daniel to most H- names, so there it is. Both my grandfathers were named Thomas, so that was easy.

Joe would be after my father and brother. They're both Joseph but only ever go by Joe. I think it makes a nice, homey middle name for a boy.
As for Harvey, its one of very few boys names I can actually picture on a son.
My other thought was Ogden Joe. I adore the look and sound of Ogden but I dislike the poet so it was bumped.

Just for today, I'd go the full-on honoring route.
Peter is my brother's middle name. Eliasz comes close enough to honoring my mother to satisfy me. It's a form of Elijah, not Elizabeth, but both are biblical names that start with Eli-, and I like that it's from her first language (Polish.)

Well, as I wrote I'm from Poland and I'm crazy lover of the name JACEK. FILIP is one of my favorite Polish names. I like also ALEKSANDER so Jacek Aleksander would be great. I am a bit surprized that Hyacinth in US is generally a girl's name. I knew it always as a boy's, even though it has such a girly meaning. I always considered that Jacinda is only feminine form of it. Hmm, so now I'm not so sure that my son really would be Hyacinth. Giacinto in Italy isn't bad name, but in US or in whichever English-speaking country it sounds bad, even awfully, in my opinion.

Yeah, I like more personal names a lot of the time. My "future children's name list" is full of honoring names mixed in with names I like just because.
Patrick Anthony Gerard used to be just Patrick Gerard, but that didn't seem like enough. Renard isn't that far in sound from Gerard, that's kinda funny.

We finally settled on this combo for SURE during our anniversary dinner last Friday.
DH had a moment of genius with Noel. It's his eldest brother's name, and it is also my twin sister's middle name, plus it's Christmas-y, and LO will be born first week in December.

Yeah, that's the thing: if you're asking what I would actually name a child, I'll always go with a more traditional choice. I just can't see myself putting anything too weird on a birth certificate.

By BtN standards it's boring, but I like Nathan and always have. I don't know if I would go with Michael as a middle, but it would be honoring both sides of the family, so that's a plus. And, it would sound great with our surname.
