I don't like Amanda at all, and I'd normally say I hate the nn Mandy too... but, well, since I basically shredded my arm, I've met so many nice Mandys! One of my favourite nurses was called Manda, and the other was called Mandy. My back-to-work lady (the lady who supervises how I can go back to work and how my workplace can help me with my injury) is called Mandy and she is super lovely.

I can't say I like the name, but I now have this positive impression of the name. Most of the Mandys I've met so far have been very sensible but also very nice and kind, friendly and level-headed... kind of makes the name seem so much better!
