Opinions on these Biblical Names?
Out of my list of names Hubby only likes 3 names.. all 3 happen to be Biblical names. Do you automatically associate these names as Biblical names? Ezra
Abel
& SethOur Sons name is Wade. I like Abel the most but afraid Wade and Abel sounds to similar to Cain and Abel. My second choice would be Ezra but afraid Ezra is much to associated as a Jewish name? Seth would be my last choice because doesn't work well with the middle names we've chosen. Opinions please?

The only one I think is automatically associated with the bible is AbelI hate Seth, no idea why just always have, it's sounds weak and annoying to meI really like Ezra and didn't even realise it was Jewish. I'd think the singer George Ezra will also make this name more well knownIf I had to order the names i'd go Ezra, Abel then Seth

Yes I do associate the names as Biblical names, because they are, but I don't see that as a bad thing. I agree that Wade and Abel does sound similar to Cain and Abel, but if it's your fave name of the three, then I wouldn't let that stop me from using it. Ezra and Seth are both gorgeous names, I love them. Personally I think Wade and Seth sounds the best. What mns are you considering?

I like Abel and Seth the most out of this trio. And to me Wade doesn't sound like Cain.

Ezra- sorta. It isn't common, and I can only think of Ezra Pound and Better than Ezra as other associations. It doesn't sound overly Jewish to me.Abel- it is a last name, too, where I am, so I have that association. Again, another rare name that sorta is Biblical. There's also the adjective able which sounds the same. The only sound similar in Cain and Abel is the long a sound, so I don't see where you think Wade and Abel sounds like Cain and Abel. Seth- no. There's the Egyptian god Seth/ Set, but I know a few. But, this isn't also a book of the Bible (Ezra) or a well known story (Abel), so it isn't so obviously biblical. If you do use Seth, you'd have to either change the mn or just not care that the name doesn't flow like you wanted.

I like Seth the best, then Ezra. I didn't know that it had a distinctly Jewish association. I very much dislike Abel.

I love Abel, and Ezra is nice. I really really dislike Seth. However, I do think Wade and Seth go the most naturally together. Seth doesn't have a Biblical feel to me, either, even though it is.I agree re: Wade and Abel, so Abel might be at the bottom. Ezra would be ok. I don't associate it as Jewish at all. I don't know any Jewish Ezras, they're all Christian.

I like Abel and Seth, but not Ezra. If you like Abel, I wouldn't worry about the Cain and Abel thing. Wade and Cain sound nothing alike. It's like you are saying that nobody should named Abel should have a brother with a one-syllable name.I love Wade, btw.

I do automatically associate all three names as being Biblical, but then I also grew up going to Sunday school each week, so that's probably why.Ezra is a lovely name. :) We're not Jewish, and I named my second son Ezra. I guess since it's the name of an actual book in the Bible, I felt it wasn't too specifically "Jewish" to use. However, if you're concerned about the Jewish feel, you might consider Ezras or Esdras? I still get comments on how great the name is. It is currently on a sharp popularity upswing (much to my annoyance), but we've yet to meet another Ezra and he's still not only the only one in his class but the only one in his school. :D I guess the popularity thing, though, is yet another point against it being specifically Jewish, though.Abel is nice, but I see your point with the sound of Wade and Abel. :/Seth is nice as well, but that's too bad about the middle names.Would it be possible to use one of your middle name choices as a first name and Abel or Ezra as a middle name?

These three names are associated with the Bible but that's not what I think of straight away when I think of these three names and it doesn't matter that they are associated with the Bible.
My favourite out of the three is Abel and I think it goes best with Wade. It doesn't make it seem similar to Cain and Abel, Wade only shares a similar letter. Abel is a favourite name of mine, and if its the one you and your husband like the most go for it.

Then Ezra which isn't just associated with Jewish names I think its a nice different name.
Finally I like Seth a lot as a name and I think it goes well with Wade, however not as nice as Abel and Ezra.

Ezra and Seth I don't associate with the bible. Ezra because my brother's friend is named that. and Seth because it has become quite popular. Abel, despite being a favourite name of mine, I do associate with the bible.Hearing Wade and Abel doesn't sound like Cain and Abel so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Ezra is all biblical to me, but that is not a bad thing. Abel goes either way. I do associate it with the Bible personally, but it doesn't scream religious. Seth is biblical for sure, but it is common enough in non-religious circles that I think it stands on it's own. My own preference is Seth of the list. I love that name. My husband wanted to use it for a girl, but I find that sound so pleasant that I simply like it for anything. Abel and Wade are not too close to Cain and Abel. The only thing Cain and Wade share is an 'a' and being one-syllable. They don't rhyme or anything matchy like that. In fact, I think that Wade and Abel is an unexpected yet lively sibset. I totally like it. Ezra is not just Jewish. I know plenty of Ezras who are not Jewish. I do think that it's the least matchy with Wade, but Ezra is one of those names that is so spunky because of it's spelling and sound that it's always a cute choice for a boy. Still, I would go with Abel for you. You like it best, your husband likes it, and it foils off of Wade quite well.

Ezra is by far my favorite of the three names you have mentioned. Abel reminds me of the word able, and it doesn't quite fit with Wade although Wade isn't similar to Cain except in the number of letters in the name. I personally dislike the name Seth because it reminds me of a sleazy book/movie character. Ezra is becoming increasingly more popular amongst Americans in general and is not used exclusively by Jewish and Christian people. Ezra is of Hebrew origin, but unless you are surrounded by extremely anti-semitic people, it should not be a problem. If there are a lot of people who hate Jews in your area, I recommend moving to an area with more tolerant people.

When I hear Ezra, I think protestant rather than Jewish. That is, if I think anything at all. Personally I don't get how a name can be "too Biblical" or "too Jewish".
Wade and Abel doesn't remind me of Cain and Abel. I like all three names. Ezra is my favourite, but with Wade I think Abel is best.

I don't think Wade sounds too similar to Cain. Sure it has the same 'ay' sound but the ending letter is what makes Wade and Abel less similar to Cain and Abel.I'm not sure if my top pick would be any good to you since I have an eccentric naming taste but my top pick would be Ezra since, to me, it matches well with Wade. It's not really too much of a Jewish name in my opinion and I just don't see the point in even thinking that.
