I'm ashamed to say that a small part of me actually likes this. Odd spelling and all.

That is odd!not the same thing, but, my mother knew a man named Paschendale, after the First world War battle.

When I see old names with tryndee spellings I think its usually due to the parent's being ill-educated and hearing a name but not knowing how to spell. Which would make sense for a name like Chelsea which isn't phonetic. Chelsea on a man is interesting.

I see a bit of that in the (French-speaking) area where I live. There's a vogue just now for "English" names, and they are sometimes oddly spelled.
These young parents are not poorly educated, just educated in French. So they hear a name, and write it as they hear it.

What?! Interesting. Intriguing really. I am having fun picturing this guy. I hope he was a bit tubby and wore suspenders over flannel, because that is what I am getting.
