Re: Random names
in reply to a message by Sofia
My first thought on Moore is that it's a surname, and of course it's in the surname database three times. It has a nice sound and none of the meanings are unfortunate, so I don't see why it couldn't be a perfectly serviceable first name.Rutley also feels like a surname, and I really don't like it as a given name. :/Columbus I dislike for the obvious and immediate association (which, I suppose is completely arbitrary, since I honestly love Charlemagne). But in the case of Columbus, I much prefer Calum / Callum, Coleman, Colm, Colum, and Malcolm / Malcom - especially Callum and Malcolm.Breck feels very informal and nickname-y. (Though I have no problem with Brock, which is only one letter different.)Skelly reminds me of Scully. I can't imagine it as a given name; maybe a surname or nickname.Amica looks like the start of 'amicable'. Which it probably is?Amina's rather nice.Cynthia's one of those names that was super popular not that long ago. I guess it feels "dated."Slavica is the word 'Slavic' with an 'a' on the end. O.o Apparently it means 'glory,' though.Zareen reminds me of 'tzarina' (tsarina, czarina). It's kind of pretty.
