Well, it's decidedly Irish to me, first and foremost. Other than that, nothing too specific. I think Patrick is a pretty versatile name, quite handsome as well. The nickname Pat, however, makes me think of an older dad-guy. Which, by the way, isn't a bad thing.I probably could never use it because my nieces are so into Spongebob, they find the name Patrick kind of dim and comical. Hrrm.I think I like Pádraig slightly more, but it's likely unusable unless you're Irish or live in a place where Irish is recognizable.

I like Patrick a lot although nns such as Pat don't do a thing for me. It's very handsome and uncommon where I live. The name makes me think first of Ireland and having that sort of background although it could suit any background, really. Physically, personality-wise, it doesn't really bring to mind anything specific.

I love Patrick. It makes me think of my uncle, who passed away a few years ago. I think it could fit a wide range of people.

I've always liked it. The full form, that is, not so fond of Pat as a nickname. It doesn't make me think of any specific personality or physical type as the two men named Patrick whom I have known were nothing alike either personality wise or physically.

Patrick's a great name, and though it is very Irish, it doesn't seem out of place on a non-Irish person. Truth be told, if my last name was O'Sullivan or Murphy or Houlihan, I'd probably not use the name Patrick, because paired with a very Irish surname it feels just a bit cliched.

I've loved it for a long time. It was my favorite boy's name (that I could use) for awhile, and I even finally convinced my husband to let us name our son Patrick. But then he just wasn't a Patrick, so we didn't use it. It would still be on my list if we ever had another boy, though not at the top. I picture a quiet but very sweet guy. I like Pat for a nn too.

I immediately think of Saint Patrick, but of course I don't really know what he looked like. Despite the obvious Irish connection, I don't tend to immediately think of a Patrick having red hair, but rather dark brown or black hair (which, of course, many Irish people do in fact have, red hair still being in the minority even in Ireland itself). I also picture a Patrick as being skinny with brown eyes, wearing slightly worn clothes in mostly browns and muted greens, and being scholarly, brave, stubborn, and probably a bit idealistic. My immediate response to the request for similar names is, "Similar how?" but I guess I'll just do whatever:Gideon
