baby girl Waverly middle names and nick name options please
I'm naming my daughter Waverly. I love the name, the fact that it's extremely rare and I also love the meaning. But I can't think of middle names for her. Last name is Colyer. I'm thinking about Elizabeth because it's my great grandma's middle name on my maternal grandmother's side and the name of my great grandma on my maternal grandpa's side. Have any suggestions on middle names and nicknames? The only nicknames I can think of are Wave, Wavey/Wavie, and Waves.

Waverly is sweet. And rare. And I don't mind it at all.Waverly Elizabeth is nice for the meaning, but a bit of a mouthful. Maybe Waverly Beth? Although I might not use Elizabeth because it honours too many people, and thereby could be considered less meaningful. But maybe that's just me.Waverly Josette
Waverly Maëlle
Waverly Brynn
Waverly CamillaWay
Werly "whirly" how cute!
Erly "early"
Verly
Whale
Waver
Waly "way-lee"

I thought you were having twin boys, Grayson & Dakota? Or was that just hypothetical?Waverly, can't say that I care for it myself. I'd be happier to just meet a Wave than a Waverly, honestly, because Wave has a nice rich, nature-y sound while Waverly just sort of blends in with all of the other -ly names (of which there are many). Still, like I said, it blends, so it's not like it should cause her much trouble in life, whereas a name like Wave might.Elizabeth is nice, but kind of filler, and I trip over my L's when saying Waverly Elizabeth. It does get bonus honoring points, though. Maybe...Waverly Bethan
Waverly Diane
Waverly Autumn
Waverly Jeanette
Waverly Iris
Waverly Anya
Waverly Sonja
Waverly Frances
Waverly Minerva
Waverly Cressida

My name is Taylor. Sierra whose having Dakota and Grayson is my cousin actually. Her dad and my dad are brothers. She told me she was getting some good feedback on here so I decided to try it out for my baby girl. Sorry for the confusion with our last name. From your selection I like Iris and Autumn. Thank you.

Are you and your cousin both single mums?
Do you live in a place where the custom is having your mother's lastname?

Wasn't so much the same last name (though that was a tip) as it was the identical guest... number...thing. What is that, the IP address? I stink with that stuff. But, yeah. Glad you like Autumn and Iris. ^^

Yep, IP address! The whole "it's my cousin / sister" thing is a really common trick people try to play, I've seen it time and time again, so I'm always immediately suspicious of it.

Woot, I got it right! *fist pumps*I think I've seen the sister/cousin trick before, too. That's why I like to start out by letting them know I recognize them without outright calling them out. To raise a mental flag. "Oh, this person recognizes me? Maybe I should stop doing this, then." Plus, there's that side of me that's afraid it somehow is a sister or a cousin or something...even though it most likely totally isn't.If there was a third time, though, I'd definitely call it out. o By the by, OP, just in case you are pretending you're pregnant so you can post about names (and if you're not, then I apologize), you don't have to do that! This place is different from pregnancy and naming sites in that it isn't full of expectant mothers (though it's used for that as well), it's a place for name lovers to gather and discuss names just because we love names. If you have a naming question, it's okay to ask it even if you're not expecting. :)

I don't believe that for a minute. If you want to ask about names, just ask.

Agreed, you don't need to pretend on here. I've never had a baby but I come on here to ask about names I've come across, names I might want to use in future, names other people have used. You don't have to be pregnant to have an interest in names :)

OH, and because I forgot...Nicknames could maybe be Ave, Aves, Ava, Ver, Vera, Verly, or Erly? Even Erl (Earl) could be almost kind of endearing except probably not really I'm sorry I suggested it. :xI like Wave and Waves.

Waverly Caroline
Waverly Amelia
Waverly Jane

"There's something sort of breezy midcentury Hollywood about Waverly - I think because it puts me in mind of Shirleys and Beverleys."I think the same. On the Simpsons, there is an episode called "Waverly Hills 9021-d'oh" which is a play on Beverly Hills 90210
